As she refuses to talk to anybody, the child created her own imaginary world being unwilling to look at the reality: “Why couldn't he understand that if he kept quiet, if all of them kept quiet, her parents would hear her and come to take her home?” (47). Through the story, her illusion state changes and tend to become a realistic one. Step by step she has no choice but to find in herself enough courage to accept and to surpass the situation. Nandana can be considered a hero because, as it painful, she finally accepts and begins to talk. Secondly, there's Nirmala, Nandana's grandmother, who was binged back to reality.
The conch is a very significant symbol for democracy and how it is used throughout the book is also a symbol for how the boys change. Jack and Ralph are the main reason that there is corruption for power in Lord of the Flies because they are the only two that truly desire power. Towards the end of the book, Jack uses savage methods of forcing people to join his tribe. The main character that shows how power leads to corruption is Jack. He is the one that eventually leads the boys into savagery.
The authors of these stories are protesting common problems of the era. In the novella, Of Mice and Men, the author, John Steinbeck, is protesting racism, sexism, and other issues of the day. This story is about two men, George Milton and Lennie Small, who find work during the Great Depression. One example of protest that the author is expressing is racism. The theme of racism is expressed throughout the book by the black character, Crooks.

Although only one ending to the play A Dolls House by Heinrik Ibsen is widely known, Ibsen was forced to write an alternative ending, as many discontented directors wanted a happier ending to the play (Jens-Morten Hanssen). The alternate ending contains a very different message. In the original ending (see Appendix 1), Nora leaves her husband Torvald Helmer and her children behind simply to get away from Helmer’s overpowering and controlling actions towards her. This is very different to the alternate ending (see Appendix 2), where Nora feels obliged to stay with her husband for the sake of her children. This alternate ending seems to have an opposite resolution and message compared to the original ending.
She is first perceived as a weak character who Iago says keeps many thoughts to herself: "She puts her tongue a little in her heart," meaning that many of her most critical thoughts remain unsaid. Even Desdemona has to encourage her to speak. This silence throughout much of the play may be one cause of her drastically changing at the end. Initially Emilia sets out to please Iago without question, as this was her role as an Elizabethan wife, however at the end she speaks against him when she realizes his true intentions. Her change at the end of the play could show that she’s isn’t an outsider, as she now has her own opinion and her own voice like many of the other characters within the play.
She even goes so far to ask Hermia to “teach [her] how [Hermia] look[s], and with what art [she] sway[s] the motion of Demetrius’ heart” (10). Helena is seems to have no self-esteem, which could be seen as a reason that Demitrius is not interested in her. She follows him around like a puppy, and even compares herself to one. The only thing on her mind is to get Demitrius to love her. She goes about this, by telling him of Hermia and Lysander’s plot to elope at night.
Othello is domestic tragedy because it invovles the matters and conflicts between a husband and a wife. A Shakespearean tragedy generally involves a male who outstands every other character in the play yet has to go through immense suffering. A domestic tragedy takes place in a personal setting. Iago is the triggering agent that we are talking about in the play. From the very beginning, iago controls the play.
Daisy remarks to Nick when recounting the birth of her girl 'that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool'. This is a very important part of the film because it underlines one of the main themes: women's rights. Daisy says this but she doesn't really believe it and although she knows that this is attitude is wrong; she doesn't do anything about it. This shows the weak part of her nature and how she is not willing to stand up against what is not right. Later in the film, Daisy rebels against the lack of women's rights but she does not succeed and then loses all hope and becomes a 'beautiful little fool'.
She is tired of fight with the world and is afraid of what is happening to her at this point in her life. So, as an escape from the reality of the world she closes her eyes. Sylvia is saying that just simply closing her eyes or hiding does not last forever because when she opens her eyes everything is still the same. "(I think I made you up inside my head)"?, with this, Sylvia is referring to the happiness and normality of her own life. She feels that this has never been a real part of her life and therefore she has only made it up in her head.
