The film The Karate Kid is directed by Harald Zwart. This movie was released out in June 11th 2010. The genres in the movie are action, comedy, drama and sport. The film about a 12 year old boy Dre Parker and his mother is moving from Detroit to Beijing. Dre starts to have a crush on Mei ying who is a young violinist. Chengs family is close to Mei ying so he’s been trying to keep Dre away from her by beating and bullying him. Mr Han who is the maintenance man from dres apartment appears while Dre is getting beaten up. Mr Han defends him from the bullies by using his kung Fu skills. Mr Han starts helping Dre defend him against the bullies who are making his life miserable by teaching him kung Fu. We watch Dre become a confident, respectful and well-toned athlete. I liked dres character because he seems like he would be a good role model for young teens because he never gives up and throughout the film he was himself and he didn’t try to change himself to make people like him. A lot of teens these days worry about what they look like or what they say so they try to change who they are instead of being who they really are. The most important theme shown in this film is to never give up. Never giving up is important to everyone because if we do give up on something then it affects that person for maybe their entire life or for a while. Dre parker shows us to never give up while he is doing his practising because if he did give up then he wouldn’t be able to defend himself if he is getting bullied. He also shows us never giving up when he breaks his leg in the tournament he still wants to participate so badly. Mr Han asks him why he badly wants to fight he says “Because I'm still scared. And no matter what happens, tonight, when I leave, I don't want to be scared anymore” because he doesn’t want to be scared so he knows he has to participate even if he’s got a
