Michael Gomez 11/28/11 In the short story, “A Sound of Thunder” by Ray Bradbury, the setting takes place in a time traveling company where people are given the opportunity to go back in time to the era of the dinosaurs and be able to kill one. Eckels and a few others take the opportunity and decide to go back in time and kill a tyrannosaurs rex. The usage of foreshadowing brings out the conflict where Travis (Group leader) kills Eckels. The constant threats said by Travis directed to Eckels, brings suspicion in the audience if he kills Eckels or not. Eckels as an hunter, is motivated to go back in time, not only be able to see one in his own eyes, but kill a T-rex.
The tone of the passage is quite sinister and bitter as it is describing the death of an animal. The passage is structured into 3 main paragraphs, with simple sentences bridging the paragraphs together to foreshadow what’s to come (“the thunder faded”, “Clean up”). The passage describes the killing of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. First, we are drawn right up close to the action with the men and the dinosaur. The men “fire” their guns at the dinosaur and the close-up perspective allows us to see the details of the dinosaur.
Inside they find numerous stone cylinders, a large, monolithic statue of a humanoid head, and the decapitated corpse of a large alien, thought to be an Engineer; Shaw recovers its head. Other bodies are found, leading the crew to surmise that the species is extinct. Crew members Millburn and Fifield grow uncomfortable with the true nature of the mission and attempt to return to Prometheus, but are left stranded in the structure when they get lost. The expedition is cut short when a rapidly approaching storm forces the crew to return to the ship. David secretly takes a cylinder from the structure, while the remaining ones begin leaking a dark liquid.

Montana, like Billy, had been brought from Earth to live under a dome in a zoo where Tralfamadorians can observe extraterrestrial curiosities. When Billy returns to Earth, he at first says nothing about what had occurred to him. In 1968, he gets on a plane to go to an optometry conference in Montreal. The plane crashes into a mountain, and, among the optometrists, the only one to survive is Billy. A brain surgeon operates on him in a Vermont hospital.
While there they come across an elderly man named Peter Jackson and an infant named Jamie Ritter. They were the only survivors. They are taken back t the secret underground facility at Wildfire. Upon further study, the team uncovers that he bacterium that caused the bizarre deaths were caused by a crystal-structured, extraterrestrial microbe on a meteor that crashed into the satellite. They then discovered that the microbe, code named "Andromeda", mutates with each growth cycle, changing its biologic properties.
The movie then flashes back to David Banner when Bruce is about four years old and his father David is confronted by the US Military about the research that he was conducting and the fact that he was doing testing on himself. The character of Bruce Banner is seemingly normal and reserved. He is in love with a co-worker named Betty. As the movie progresses there is an accident in the lab and Bruce is exposed to the gamma radiation. This exposure seems to activate the genetic abnormalities and he begins to change.
A multimillion dollar company discovers a new and innovative way to clone dinosaurs. They extract the blood of prehistoric mosquitos in fossilized “amber” to find dinosaur DNA. As a result, they manage to clone most of the species that were existent during the Jurassic period and open a theme park that is designed to be a tourist attraction. During a preview of the island, the park suffers a huge power outage, which allows the animals to break free and take over the island. Regardless of being a science fiction film, Jurassic Park seems to follow a more realistic plot compared to other science fiction films.
The Adromeda Strain The Andromeda Strain The basic situation of the novel is that bacteria is brought to the earth from space by a U.S. Military space probe looking for new weapons. After it comes to earth it kills all the people of the small town of Piedmont in Arizona except for a baby named Jamie Ritter and an old man named Peter Jackson and the bacterium threatens to wipe out all living creatures in its path unless a vaccine is invented to protect against it. Then the scientists can’t agree with the army and the President over the best way to fight the virus. There are lots of conflicts between the characters on the Wildfire team. Stone has a low opinion of Hall’s ability to help and thinks that Burton is a slob.
In the short story “A Sound of Thunder” Eckels, a hunter, goes back in time on a tour to hunt for dinosaurs. The tours, to make sure that nothing in the future will change, put down floating metal paths to walk on, and they make everyone wear special suits and helmets. Even the slightest disturbance can change the future completely, just like the butterfly effect. After seeing the Tyrannosaurus they were suppose to shoot, Eckels chickens out, and begins to run back to the time machine. But on his way back, he accidentally steps off the floating path.
