We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children. “- George Bush)[pic] ---*--- September 11, 2001 has been the darkest day in the life of every American. On that day, the radical Muslim group Al Qaeda led a series of suicide attacks that demolished American Trade Center, damaged Pentagon, destroyed the hijacked planes, and killed thousands of innocent Americans in the process. Such an unprecedented attack of this magnitude on the unprepared nation shook the confidence of the people, impaired their sense of security and changed their view of the world around them. The events of that single day snatched the openness of American society. The new America after 9/11 is more cautious, much more suspicious and too much concerned about its security. In the hindsight, it may appear that America might have made many enemies on its way to become a super power and this might be the cause of such a destructive plot by its enemies seeking revenge. Going for the facts, we see that the conspiracy plan of the September 11 attack came from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who presented the idea to Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda. Bin Laden gave approval for Mohammed to go forward with organizing the plan. Mohammed provided operational support for the attack that included target selections and arranging travel for the hijackers. Bin Laden provided leadership, financial support and was involved in selecting the suicide attackers. The incidents of 9/11 were inconceivable and unthinkable to people in US.
