I was giving the assignment to write an essay about how JROTC has helped me deal with peer pressure. In JROTC you will learn a lot of ways that help you deal with peer pressure. You are always thought to learn leadership skills, and be a leader. And if you are a leader then you would never fall for any peer pressure. In JROTC you have to say this creed. If you can learn that creed and remember what it says, it’s another thing that will help. I know the whole creed by heart, but there’s this one sentence that has stuck with me more than any other line in the whole creed. It says, “I do not lie, cheat or steal. I will always be accountable for my actions and deeds”. If you can remember that one line, you wouldn’t do anything you wouldn’t normally do. Like I said earlier you have to be a leader, and you have to set the example not to fall for peer pressure. Just think about it, there will be sometime in your life, where one of your friends has asked you to do something you wouldn’t ever do. What would you say? What would you do? There are only two things you could do. Say yes, or say no. and when you’re sitting there thinking about what you’re going to do, think about what JROTC have taught you. You set the example and say no, you never know who might be watching you, and you could have made a very good influence on somebody who might be going through the same thing. The decisions you make don’t only effect you, they effect the people around you. JROTC has taught me a lot of different things in the two years I’ve been in there, but the biggest that that has touched me the most is when they teach you how to be a leader, not only would that help you through high school, but it will for the rest of your
