JROTC is course that has both its ups and downs to it. There are many things that are good about the course but there are also some things that I do not enjoy about JROTC. But for the most part there are more things that I like than dislike about JROTC. I think that JROTC can be improved some but I’m sure that the people who made this course knew what they were doing and I will be thankful for how they did it later.
There are a lot of things that I like about JROTC. One of these things that I like is the fact that it is a course that helps improve leadership because I do not have great leadership skills. I want to be able to be a leader but I have not had many classes that teach leadership skills. The entire rank concept is also good because it helps teaches us that we do have to listen to our superiors whether we like it or not. It helps us learn to listen to people who are in charge of us even though they are a year or two older than us. I also like the fact that it uses stuff from the military like the uniform because it teaches us to want to look good for all to see. We actually have I also don’t to try and maintain our appearance so we do well in class. I also like the marching part of JROTC because I have always wanted to learn how to march but I didn’t know where I could find out how. Another thing I like about JROTC is the fact that there are outside of school activities you can do for it but they aren’t a requirement for class for you to pass. It is pretty cool for a class to have that because not many classes offer activities outside of school. Many of the activities outside of school don’t have anything to do with your classes.
There are just a couple of things that I do not like about JROTC. One of these things is the standing at parade rest at the end of class for 5 to 10 minutes. I do not enjoy that but I do realize that it can help teach students that there is a time to talk and a time to not talk. But many of the students have not realized that....
