It was a "J-type mission", missions including three-day lunar surface stays, extended scientific capability, and the third Lunar Roving Vehicle. While Evans remained in lunar orbit above in the Command/Service Module, Cernan and Schmitt spent just over three days on the lunar surface in the Taurus-Littrow valley, conducting three periods of extra-vehicular activity, or moonwalks, during which they collected lunar samples and deployed scientific instruments. Cernan, Evans, and Schmitt returned to Earth on December 19 after an
When the war was done the Military saw how skilled Neil was so he was assigned as command pilot for space equipment. He worked as a test pilot for many experimental high speed aircraft including the X-15. Then for 2 year of his test pilot he was involved in the X-20 Dyna-Soar orbital glider program. This type of aircraft was to see what the possiabletts where for the US (United States) space program. This was a big part of America because it was a start for a hole new program.
The craft landed later that same day only 15 minutes and 22 seconds later. Data During the flight, Mercury Redstone 3 Freedom 7 attained a maximum velocity of 8,200 km/hour and an altitude of 186.4 km. The capsule landed 483 km downrange from Cape Canaveral in the Atlantic Ocean. Shepard experienced a maximum g-force of 6 during the booster acceleration phase of the mission and slightly less than 12 on re-entry. The duration of the flight was 15 minutes and 22 seconds with weightlessness lasting about 5 minutes.
[3] The exhibits also included a twelve-inch (305 mm) Zeiss refracting telescope in the east dome, a triple-beam coelostat (solar telescope) in the west dome, and a thirty-eight foot relief model of the moon's north polar region. The Griffith Observatory after renovations,
He got into the field because he had technical assignments with space station operations. But he officially decided to become an astronaut when he was a pilot in the U.S Air Force. In the Air Force he flew 144 missions in the Vietnam War. The first mission

The Challenger was a space shuttle of great experience. Before its last journey it had witnessed the first steps of man and the first woman on the moon. It was named after the British Naval research vessel that sailed the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean during the 1870’s. The Challenger certainly made its scientific contribution to the sense of exploration because the Apollo 17 also carried the name Challenger (Space Shuttle Overview: Challenger n.p.). The next and last journey of the space shuttle was on January 28, 1986 when the US Space Challenger broke apart seventy-three seconds after lift off.
Robert has written a book called “Shred It!” about his experiences over the past few years and hopes to spread the word about his newfound lifestyle. This article is organized very well, as Robert gives a brief background on his life and then he talks about how Forks Over Knives opened his eyes to a plant-based diet that changed his life. The intended article is for unhealthy Americans, or even people considering veganism as a lifestyle, as well as bodybuilders who are in the same “protein” situation Robert was in before he changed his life. Ethos is used in this article because Robert personally
Explorer 1 had an orbital life cycle of about twelve years, and mission duration of four months. Upon re-entry to earth in 1970, it had completed an astounding 58,000 orbits around the Earth. At the same time as the Vanguard rockets (the satellites proceeding Explorer 1), President Eisenhower and the rest of his cabinet were trying to decide under which agency this new “space” issue fell under the jurisdiction of, to which they found no answer. President Eisenhower instated the National Aeronautics and Space Act which was the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or more commonly known as NASA. NASA would go on to become the most influential organisation in the world in relation to anything space related.
The Space Age began for the world's domination when the Soviets put Sputnik I, the first man made satellite, into a shallow Earth orbit. Sputnik carried a battery-operator radio transmitter that beeped as it circled the globe every 95 minutes. It was 1:0 to Korolyov, to Soviets. United States’ suggestion to place a satellite in orbit was actually made in 1954 by the U.S. Army. Although these ambitious plans failed, the United States joined the Soviets in space eventually on the 31st of January 1958.
