Objective: Children will experience multicultural music with instrument involvement. 2. Describe the cultural make-up to be considered and any adaptations needed for children of diverse backgrounds. Teacher will print pictures of fiestas and dancers. Will also show examples of foods eaten by the culture. 3. List past experiences or previous activities necessary. Children have learned about pattern and music using rhythm sticks. Children will learn listening skills. 4. Describe developmental skills necessary for success and any adaptations needed for children with delays in skill developmental as guided by developmentally appropriate practice. Children should be able to sing and play an instrument. If children can not sing they can hum. If children are unable to play the instrument they will be encouraged and helped with some movement. 5. Materials: CD Player, CD of mariachi band, CD of Los Pollitos Dicen, maracas, castanets 6. Possible issues to consider: Discussion about the proper use of instruments. Instruments are to play they are not toys. Discussion about how the instruments will be passed around the circle so children will not fight over toys. 7. Presentation: Introduction: Today we are going to talk about a Mexican Fiesta. Does anyone know what happens at a Mexican Fiesta? Does anyone know what kind of food is at a fiesta?
