Hitler had assumed the army and police would support him and join in with the putsch however they stayed true to the Weimar republic. At first, the Nazis were just a terrorist group. Hitler assembled a large group of unemployed young men and former soldiers, known as the storm troopers (the SA), which attacked other political groups. Hitler hoped to take power by starting a revolution. Hitler was unsuccessful in gaining enough support from the SA and therefore was left with a very small army to fight the Weimar government.
In every sense it was a futile gesture against the government. Ebert withdrew his government to the safety of Weimar and allowed the Freikorps and what remained of the regular army to bring peace and stability back to Berlin once again. No mercy was shown to the Spartacists/Communists whose leaders were murdered after being arrested. Ebert's actions in calling for Freikorps help quite possibly prevented an all-out Communist revolution in Germany on the Soviet model. In addition, while the SPD would retain power through much of the Weimar period, the division of the two "working class " parties divided their influence and made it easier for the Nazis to claim that the democratic system was unworkable while dividing the votes of the two leftist parties making it easier for Hitler to take power.
The criminals should be living in fear because they know that their victims have the ability to retaliate when attacked. The fact is that modern gun control laws only protect the criminal and the image of the government’s control over the people. The people of the USA should have the ability to defend themselves, to defend their own freedom, before the country ends up being run by criminals or by an all-powerful and corrupt government like the Hitler
The Nazis felt like this political group was trying to undermine their “people’s community”. Hitler made it very clear that he did not want the communists in his people community when he and the Nazi party realised their 25 point programme of 1920.However the Nazis also portrayed the socialist and any other party of which had taken part in coalition governments during the Weimar republic as they collaborated with communism and Jewish democracy. Hitler wanted to introduce the policy of volksgeminschaft in this case because if he could eliminate the communists and the other parties who were associated as collaborating with them, the Nazis could then get their votes as they had a high amount of supporters, which would mean them having the majority and coming into power. Anybody who the Nazis believed that represented a threat to the racial purity of which Hitler wanted would come under the socialism categories. This included, Jews, gypsies and those who were seen as mentally or physically unfit.
Big Brother is even more intruding than our government today and the only way to get away with things is by thinking them. It even says on a sign, “BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU”. Another element in the book is the Thought Police. They are much different than the police in our society today. The police in American society can arrest you for things you only do while the thought police can arrest you for things you think.
This is slightly similar to ‘1984’ in which the people are dumbed down by their language and unable to think for themselves. Any time they feel like something is wrong, the thought police come and take you away; this is also similar to ‘Harrison Bergeron’. The movie ‘V for Vendetta’ is different from these two and is run by the government party called Norse Fire. Instead of dumbing down its people, Norse Fire focuses on keeping fear and ignorance high, they have full control of the media and greatly take advantage of that. Norse Fire gained power in the confusion of an epidemic; they gained the trust of the people by giving them a cure to this killing disease.
From kidnappings, to murders, to rapes, to bank robbing, to car accidents, to terrorist warnings, to abducted children... the list goes on and on. Basically if someone’s not getting hurt, somethings not getting taken, or someone in the government is not doing something wrong, there is no story. With that said, “Fact: the higher you go in the business, the more time you will spend standing blind folded on the media firing line” (Pg 182). As Richard Nixon put it, “the press is the enemy” (Pg 183). For politicians, all reporters are trying to do is exploit any wrong move.
Power intrigues everyone. So many of the people think if they have the absolute power for anything, then can do anything. As we all know, “Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.” We all want to think of ways to be able to have anti-Corruption everywhere and not just in correctional facilities but is this really something we can do? These are some of the items and strong will that we will need to obtain in order to implement an anti strategy in prisons known for brutality and other forms of corruption. This is going to require courage from the group that will be involved in making these stick and stay.
Taking away people’s right to own firearms, as Dwyer notes, is a calculated move aimed at leaving the people with no free will. Americans are no longer safe because Liberalism and its ideologies has done away with the safety measures that were aimed at keeping criminals in jail, deporting illegal migrants who are known for their unlawful activities and ensuring that mental patients remain in hospitals. These people are now freely loaming the streets, endangering people’s lives and instead of preventing and stopping this from happening, the government is only keen at imposing the gun-control law on law-abiding citizens. Crime rates are rising, many people have died in the recent years and people need to protect themselves from these criminals but with the gun control laws, no one will be
This era was our first attempt for an organized police force. It showed us our flaws in the system and what people will do to ensure “their” best interests are protected and with money and power, could be above the law. The more corrupt the officers were, it seemed like the more violent criminals started to become. People where tired of being stepped on for someone else’s gain and those would be normal everyday people turned towards the criminal side. This led to rethinking the whole police system and how to better effect the people they were sworn to protect.
