Donnie Brasco Abstract Joseph Dominick Pistone is a former FBI agent who worked undercover infiltrating the Bonanno crime family and to a lesser extent the Colombo crime family, two of the Five Families of the mafia in New York City (Pistone, 1989). Joseph Pistone is better known as Donnie Brasco (his alias), the man who infiltrated the New York mafia. Pistone is a pioneer of deep long-term undercover work spending six years within the Bonnano crime family. Pistone was an FBI agent for 27 years and is considered an FBI legend pioneering methods for surveillance, audio and visual monitoring, informants and stings. Joe Pistone travels under an assumed name and with a mob contract hanging over his head; he must always be diligent of his surroundings.
In the 18th Century, gang problem became worse as the new generation of immigrants continue to enter the United States. During this time, Irish gangs like Whyos, Dead Rabbits and Plug Uglies and Jewish gangs like the Monk Eastman Gang brought terror in New York City streets (Lou Savelli, 2001). In the 19th Century, the most notorious gang was formed – the Five Points Gang. One of the most notorious members of the Five Points Gang was a young boy of Italian descent in the name of Alphonse Capone also known as Scarface. His whole life was an illustration of the power and influence of organized crime in the United States during the 19th Century (“Al Capone”).

When a fur coat heist goes wrong, Tom and Matt end up shooting a police officer, and Putty Nose flees town. The boys vow to get revenge on him.

Around this time Allen had discovered a gang that were making counterfeit coins and assisted with their arrest. Allen was offered a position working as a duty for Cook Sheriff’s Department. Gangs of New York is set in 1863 at the Five Points neighborhood in Manhattan. Amsterdam Vallon is returning to seek revenge against Bill ‘The Butcher’ Cutting, who murdered his father years ago in a bloody clash between Bill’s gang ‘The Nativists’ with the Native Americans and ‘The Deadly Rabbits,” a gang of Irish immigrants lead by Priest Vallon, in response to the Native American gang. During the time that Vallon returns, lower Manhattan is run by gangs, the most powerful of which is the Natives lead by ‘The Butcher’. The movie also takes place during the time of the Civil War and forced drafting into the military leads to some of the worst riots in United States history. Even though Vallon is surrounded by the violence and corruption of the gangs and war, he tries to establish himself and seek revenge for his father’s death.
Henry's friends stab and shoots the man in the trunk. Henry closes the trunk and he says “ as far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a gangster” (Scorsese,1990). The film goes back to 1950s where you able to see what lead up to this scene. Henry is a young boy who looks up to Lucchese crime family gangsters who live in his neighborhood in East New York,Brooklyn. Henry ends up leaving school for good to go work for this crime family.

At age 17 Ricca was working for organized crime in Naples. In 1915, Ricca stabbed Emillo Parillo to death, which he claimed he did it for Parillo breaking an engagement to his sister. But in reality, he killed him on Mafia Orders, which he received two years in Italian prison.

At the age of eleven he was initiated into the Crips, and committed his first murder. It was this day that began what would become a career for Kody: banging (Scott, 1993). Kody worked hard to secure a reputation for his name.
With the two criminals being from different areas of the world and born in different eras, it has a large effect on the style of their corrupt actions. Born in 1899, Al Capone was around many gang members as a young kid. He grew up in a tough neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. He dropped out of school and then began interacting with serious criminals involved in the mafia lifestyle. Al Capone got arrested in 1918 for disorderly conduct.
Crime is one of the most socially costly potential outcomes for maltreatment. The link between child maltreatment and crime is all over the news. According to a CNN report, the Washington D.C. sniper, John Muhammad, “was regularly and severely beaten as a child by several relatives, including an uncle who beat another child to death...” (Malvo, 2004). As a child, the "Boston Strangler," Albert DeSalvo, was actually sold off as a slave by his alcoholic father (Scott, 2011). There have been a few studies done to link the effects of childhood maltreatment to crime with a result of little hard evidence.
