Jesus and Mohammed A Comparison of these two Prophets Lives and what it means to people. By: Mary L Lewis As history stated Jesus and Mohammed were prophets that spread God’s word in very different ways. They were born at separate times and they did things opposite of one another. Jesus taught people about Christianity while Mohammed preached Islamic ways. Jesus and Mohammed tried to strengthen their respective faiths or religion so people can come to know God. This is a report on the lives of Jesus and Mohammed. We will discuss what they contributed and how both were worshipped. God chose the Virgin Mary to carry his son and he was conceived spiritually. She was married to Joseph. While Mary was pregnant with Jesus, Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem. When they arrived there was no place to sleep. They had to stay in a stable with animals and the same night, Mary gave birth to a boy, and named him Jesus. He was born the 4th year before B.C. When Jesus was 12 years old he traveled to Jerusalem for Passover. He was found by his parents discussing the Torah with Rabbi’s. When leaving, he stated “Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” (Fisher, 2005, p. 289). His statement shows his connection to God, which was revealed later in his life. When he was 30 years old, John the Baptist, baptized him. John didn’t want to be put in this situation because he believed that baptizing the Savior was not in his position, but Jesus insisted. While Jesus wandered through the land to spread the word of God, many miracles were performed by him. It is stated in the Holy Bible that he performed many miracles, such as healing the sick, turning water into wine, walking on water, and bringing the dead back to life. He even turned a few loaves and fish into enough food to feed mobs of people. Jesus had many followers and encouraged female disciples, such as
