Jeffrey Dahmer What is a sociopath? A sociopath is a person who has antisocial personality disorder. The main characteristic of a sociopath is the disregard for the rights of others. Sociopaths are also unable to conform to what society defines as a normal personality. Antisocial tendencies are a big part of the sociopath’s personality. This pattern usually comes to evidence around the age of 15. If it is not treated it might develop into adulthood. Jeffrey Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In his childhood he suffered the constant fights of his parents. All the fights he saw between his parents marked him for life. In 1967 the family buys a house in Bath, Ohio, where Jeffrey spent the rest of his childhood and adolescence. When he went fishing with his father he liked to open the fish and see how they died. With 10 years he began to torture all types of animals that he hunted in the woods near his home. Once he killed the animals he collected their dead bones. During high school he was considered an extravagant, alcoholic, drug user, and ‘weird’ person. Before turning 18 his parents get divorced and his father gets married once again with another women. In 1978 he entered Ohio State University but drops out after the first semester because of his alcohol issues. In June 1978, when he was 18 he found Steven Hicks hitchhiking and took him home. Dahmer was gay and had the fantasy of picking up a hitchhiker and sleep with him. Once home, he realized that Hicks was not gay, and when he wanted to leave, Dahmer could not stand it and hit him in the head and then strangled him with a weight. After his first murder he felt guilty and frightened, he tried to suppress his killing and sexual desires by going to church, leaving the alcohol and staying in a state of celibacy.
