Both Religion, the first definition being a bond between God and man, and Science, the state or fact of knowing, attempt to answer questions that have ran through the human psyche for vast numbers of generations, many people are currently asking themselves whether they can believe both in scientific theory and religious doctrine. Increasingly large parts of the population no longer know where they stand in the religion, science divide, others are pushed towards the edges of belief and increasingly refuse to accept the other parties points of view. However essentially there are individuals in society who both accept science and religion so the two are evidently not mutually exclusive beliefs however we must ask the questions that answer why it is that such people can believe both in religion and science and why some refuse to accept the beliefs that the other party accepts as reality, divine in nature or not. Essentially there are a number of view points to be considered when analysing this question, some may argue that scientific understanding has proven the non existence of god, some may accept scientific findings yet still believe in god, and some may refuse to believe scientific understanding as proven fact, in the following text I will attempt to convey the reasons for the previously stated perspectives. Firstly I will analyse the fundamentalist perspective regarding certain scientific discoveries, this viewpoint is largely held by evangelical Christians and certain Islamic sects the views held by these individuals often concern the creation of the world, or the validity of religious texts. Often scientific evidence is denied as invalid such as Darwinism‘s theory of evolution or the big bang theory as opposed to the creation of life by God.
