They could see the errors of the future and grasp to what made the system work in the past. Focusing on actual knowledge to better society at the basic level. The present day of education still draws from the past in the aspect that a school is only as good as a system will allow. The emphasis is on education regardless of pre-set notions. Society today wants citizens to play an integral part of their

There are many ways I could serve other with my education, by doing my work for this country, by serving the ones that are less fortunate than I, and to teach the next generation of not just students, but also people that motivation and inspiration are the keys to success and that they should never give up. First, I'd try to do my work in this world by what I am taught in my classroom and applying it to the real world. I would use the morals that my teachers use in the classroom in a world that desperately needs my intelligence, and my sense of service. There is no justice in this world and I would use my education to try and apply it to where it needs to be like: in the world, in the courts, in the prisons, in the fields, in the study and in the classroom, at home and abroad. A second way I'd use my education to serve others is by serving the people that are less fortunate than I am.
T.S. Elliot once wrote “It is in fact a part of the function of education to help us escape, not from our own time -- for we are bound by that -- but from the intellectual and emotional limitations of our time” (Infinity Web Development, LLC, 2002-2010). The Americans should bring back the perception that “there is nothing we can’t be" stems from our ancestral heritage. Since the majority of the early settlers could not read or write, they worked hard to make sure the kids of the future all had a chance to learn. They believed they had a responsibility to improve themselves, to be the best they could be, to improve their abilities, and to help thy neighbors.
Will children be educated enough to understand when making self-serving, society-serving or morally-based decisions, or is today’s educational criteria a form of brainwashing to help our current government stay in power? “Conflict theorists argue that the real purpose of the public school system is to reproduce and maintain the existing class structure in our society.” (123) In several sections of the book, I disagreed with the notion that education best serves society; I believe it should be the other way
Education is what allows you to make the correct decisions in life and hence allows you to make a positive contribution to society as Nelson stated. Considering the rate at which our country is developing and has developed, the standard of education in this country is something that can't be taken as a joke and neglected. If America's educational system doesn't stop producing failures and cant motivate students enough to stay in schools to graduate, problems like poverty, high crime rates and
In the video, Ms. Winfrey discussed the ideas of not only acting like a nice person, but actually being nice to others. She also talked about hard work and as well as believing in yourself. She said that actually being a nice person to people that you are around allows you to easily work with others around you in order to obtain the things you need and to create a good perception of yourself. It’s important for others to know of your nice spirit because it reflects well upon you and makes it easier for you to get things done. Hard work goes along with dedication and sticking to your plan in order for you to eventually achieve success.
That parents stress to children the importance of education all their school lives, but they continue to give money things that are less important, instead they should put money towards the teachers who wants to help make a difference in every child's life. Barber believes that parents should actually display their actions that they care and value their education. He explains who are to blame for the lack of quality education in America. The generations before the young and the government have a partial blame in why the school system is failing. Barber's argument is more superior, because he takes the sociopolitical context of education in to account, where as Henry does not.
Nathan Wheatley Eng 1010 11/10/11 Raised to be Lowered: The American Education System What does it mean to be educated? What does it mean to learn? Why do we, as humans, continue to pursue education? These are the questions I’ve come to contemplate as I reminisced about the way I was raised and prepared for the future here in America. I realized that my education; given that I was raised in a peaceful society, without threat of war, or starvation, or disease, should have served me much better.
