The Development of Policing Taneka Lewis AJS/502 Timothy Cariker April 7, 2014 The Development of Policing Policing has been a major part of society for decades. Men and women across the United States risk their lives to ensure that people they know and do not know remain safe. The police and their place in government is a vital key in society. Our modern day law enforcement has continued to change as the demand for more peace rises. Thanks to a man named Sir Robert Peel we have today what is known as police departments, police officers, and police uniforms.
Police need to understand the different cultures which can be accomplished by training and education. Force is another principal used in law enforcement. The use of excessive force has always caused people to mistrust the police. Since it is necessary to have trust from the public, training on the use of force can help ensure that force is only to be used to the extent necessary. Sir Robert Peel’s principals and Community Policing share the same concepts and goals in policing.
Intimate Partner Violence Darryl Jackson CCJ 5450 Critical Issues in Criminal Justice Dr. Ken Mullen August 3, 2013 Domestic violence is serious problem that our police forces all across the nation are forced to deal with on a daily basis. There is no quick fix or magic answers to solve this problem. I have seen cases of domestic violence that are quite sickening. The police are not quite sure how to handle it because policies and laws in reference to partner violence are ever changing. The police get frustrated with these calls because there are times when they get a call and they see the address and realize that it one that they have to respond to on a weekly basis.
Everyone here is trying to help someone, so we can have a better society. We have learned that in the criminal justice system there are many different ways to communicate with people or criminals. Depending on which approach we take, we can get a different outcome or result. Nevertheless, what we do know is that communication is very important in our lives and is used on a daily basis. Making sure that we communicate effectively is vital when expecting a certain response and sometimes we need to be sure what we say or how we word things is done in an appropriate way.

All of this has been a controversy in our nation and will continue because we all have different perspective on this topic. As for me, you know what I think, and most definitely the law should be enforced more. Especially, in providing safer school environments for young students and doing background checks on gun purchasers, but not banning them completely. In addition, those who oppose all of this have made their points clear and this debate will continue until our government officials reach an agreement on this difficult
Predictive Policing Predictive Policing is one of a range of tools using better data, more finely crunched, to predict crime. They seem to promise better law-enforcement. Crime is one of the hardest aspects to have a first responder appear unless they are in the right place at the right time. Police departments around the world are taking on a new strategy to help them enforce the law, reach respondents and ultimately lessen the crime wave in known areas. Even though some fear that this type of system may ultimately bring on automation to police forces and lose the human interaction, others feel it is great effort to protect communities.
Prisoners Struggle in Re-entering Society Every year, millions of men and women leave America’s state and federal prisons and local jails with the hope of a successful return to society, they face the obstacles of trying to adjust to the freedom, temptations, responsibilities, and struggles of their society. Returning Prisoners rely on their families for housing and support immediately after their release. They lose many employment opportunities. Released prisoners have a hard time finding and maintaining employment in the year following reentry, and the released prisoners who find employment generally work in low-skill jobs or are employed at much lower wages than they earned prior to incarceration. Prisoners also often live with their parents or siblings after release.
There are numerous contributing factors that make this even harder on the population of Mohave County to survive. The need is evident with the growing rate of people only surviving because of benefits like food stamps and unemployment checks that things need to change. This is even more of an issue right now with the government shutting down and putting a stop to programs like WIC and possibly food stamps. The need is for there to be more available positions. The reasons this occurs is due to numerous factors like the number of companies going out of business, lack of job growth, future plans for job growth does not meet the need, founding father’s not allowing large business to come to town, education level of community, sales tax is high, and average household income is low.
Immediate and Long Term Proactive Problem Solving- The community police officer will sustain contact with the law abiding citizens in the community, so we can all together explore solutions to neighborhood concerns and thoughts on how to improve the community. As an officer we must go above and beyond to protect our community by making those necessary arrests, and problem solving to come up with new incorporations within our department. 5. Ethics, Legality, Responsibility and Trust- Community policing implies a new contract between police and citizens of the community. This relationship of trust, created by bringing a positive impact to police work, and
