I would say that some of these characteristics that I carry include: a curious and sharp mind, empathy, perceptiveness, humility, and self-reflection. Counselors must be curious about what makes people, groups, and systems do what they do and I am definitely curious about all of that. This trait is important both for learning more about others, as well as doing therapy and staying abreast of the ever evolving, new treatments, that are being created in the psychology field. A Counselor's primary task is to listen to others with empathy, and I enjoy doing just that! I believe that listening to others and being able to put yourself in their shoes in order to understand what they might be feeling is very critical.
A further element is the managerial or normative aspect of supervision and this could explained to some extent as maintaining standards. An awareness of the need to keep up with CPD, personal blind spots and prejudices that affect the the way how both trainee and counselor look at themselves which in turn influence how they see others and the way how they work, so the requirement to contiunaly learn about oneself increases knowledge and understanding which is vitaly important for personal development and growth that will enevitbly enhance thier work with clients. Casework supervision plays an important role as it provides support for the student or practising counselor. They have an

Take an interest in their likes and dislikes, and ask them about their hobbies etc, to show you are interested. When you are talking with, or listening to them, ensure you maintain eye contact with them by lowering yourself down to their level, which gives them the same level of respect that they would be expected to show an adult. It shows them that they are considered an equal by you. It is very important that you are a good role model yourself. How they see you speaking to, interacting with and treating others, will have a massive effect on them.
M2- Self awareness is the ability to know myself, my abilities, limitation and what is my personality is like. Self awareness is a very important tool to have as it helps me to be conscious of my limits and areas for further development. It is hard to do this with a friend because we may not want the friend to know who we really are. Before we can professionally help others as counsellors, we need to be self aware. This is because of the nature of the role of counsellors.
I have to always be aware of these standards, and understand the impact on people, if I don’t work towards them. Reflecting on standards, gives me the chance to keep up to date, with any new standards. 1.4. My own values and beliefs could affect the job I do, within my role if I don’t have an awareness of my own values. I could find it hard to accept other staff members values and beliefs, and feel mine are the right ones.
This exercise sets out everything I find important to myself and put a value upon it. This gives priority a new meaning because placing value on family and salary and certain things you want and need out of a job make a difference on what kind of job that maybe in mind. This creates an action plan in which requires a person to set limits to what needs to be given up for what job you want or want to work up too. Setting career priorities define my goals and help me look for a job because it makes me want to accomplish every goal I set for myself, so I can be happy and have everything I need to live and survive with. It is important when evaluating career variables because it helps me define my potential and where I want to spend my time working.
In high school I was in the future educators association. As well as the class that was involved in the group. We went to schools in our area and helped the teachers and helped us decide if teaching was right for us. This meant that we had to make lesson plans, keep peace and order in classroom, as assist students when help was needed. This was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience for me and my fellow classmates.
Sometimes different is good, that is what makes the world a giant melting pot of diversity. Now knowing exactly what type of personality I have is a great asset to have because, I now know what are the strengths and weaknesses I have in my personality. Maybe there is a way I can work on these weaknesses to make myself a better person. Working socially is a good start; I can share my strengths with people around me from my personality. As well as for an education point of view this will help me as far as connecting myself with people that have similar personalities as me.
I think the humanistic-encouraging trait is important because like any other leader, people must trust you, set goals that are attainable, learn how to resolve issues in a constructive manner, and encourage your followers. I enjoy listening to people’s problems and helping them think positive and find the healthiest or best solution. I am normally the person my friends come to when they need to talk to someone. I believe as a manager a person must have a sense of how a person is and deal with each person individually if needed so each person as an understanding of what is the mission is. Controlling as a manager is something I believe I will have to work on.
