One reason is that anytime men are able to take up arms against the local government so that they may improve their lives; they are fooling themselves. A prince will have to do harm those who helped him rise to power because he is forcing them to live with any of the problems he will have taking the principality and holding the acquired territory. Because of these things you are opposed by the people who opposed you from the start and the people who helped you overthrow the territory. It will always be difficult to acquire new territories. Creon wants the people to obey him and respect him, but he has not given them a reason to. The decisions that he makes are bad ones that hurt his people as well as his own reputation and family. It is only when he can’t take the suffering anymore that he is driven by grief, but still he will not give up his power. Another strong reason why Creon should not continue to be king is because he is too stubborn and proud to be a ruler. A good leader should know when to kneel down instead of trying to put everyone and everything under him.
These are two ideas that turned to war and could have been solved without force. These wars are unnecessary and need to be prevented and or stopped to make the world a better place and it would also make peace again. Peace is the thing we need to shoot for but many need to understand the reason why. Then again these wars are unwinnable because a conclusion will not be reached no matter how hard we try. The only way we can stop it is by being smart about our future decisions and hope to god that whatever decisions get made don’t ruin our country’s fate
According to King, it is impractical because it slows the process of ending the oppression for all, and it is immoral because it seeks humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding. So, violence destroys community and brotherhood by planting hatred rather than love. The third way based on King is nonviolent resistance. He believes in this way no individual or group need give in to any wrong, nor need anyone resort to violence in order to right a wrong. According to king, this is the method that oppressed people must follow to win against the unjust system while loving the perpetrators of the system.
They were not inventing anything new but reclaiming something ancient. This is why governments tend to fall apart, because people often want to come together freely and be themselves, rather then fit a mold that is presented for them. Most soldiers would not even know the cause of the war they just know that ‘VC’ are the enemy and you must “Kill them”. The way the soldiers track the VC like animals is almost as though they have been compelled to do so. Turning your back on reality will only get you so far. Ignoring the truth will only push you further from the ultimate goal of peace, which is what we all wish to acquire. Things are not always how mommy and daddy made them appear to your young sponge-like mind. The truth isn’t politically correct, and the sooner we realize that as a nation, the sooner we won’t feel as though we’re walking on egg shells on our own soil. The idea of racial profiling puts many people on edge, although deep down we all do it from time to time.
Although the players may be supporting the coach’s actions, most are calling for their heads…and possibly for good reason. These acts are not only premeditated, but they are malicious and create a bullying environment that is already dangerous for the players. Paying people to harm others is not legal in our society no matter what the circumstances may be. The only exception to this would be boxing or UFC matches, but even then, there are not bonuses for ripping off an arm, leg or ear. Should there be legal ramifications to those involved in bounty programs?
There are ways to fight this huge problem of indifference and it can be stopped. Indifference is a very dangerous problem that leads to very dangerous situations. Indifference is when people know of horrible events happening, but choose to stay silent or not take action. If something terrible is happening and people do not try to stop it, it will continue to happen. Until people choose to stop indifference and start caring about others in the world, theses events will not stop.
He states: “If a story seems moral, do not believe it” (O’Brien 65). This is where another difficulty lies. Every patriotic citizen looking to be supportive of the war is naïve; they look for a moral to what they are doing. Some will defend with this: “We are fighting to keep our country free.” Or “It’s for the betterment of the nation.” They, within their small perspectives, found moral to the stories. The true war story has no moral; ask one’s self, “Is war truly moral?
