Is the Right to Life Is the Most Important Issue When Considering Abortion?

The issue of abortion is a sensitive one, there are many things that need and should be considered when looking at abortion and weather it is right to do so. Perhaps the most important one is that everyone has a right to life. It is widely argued when an embryo becomes a person and when it is wrong to have an abortion. Mainly there are two groups that have views when looking at abortion; these are pro-life and pro-choice. A supporter of pro-life would say that the right to life is the most important factor as they feel that in no way under any circumstances should there ever be an abortion. They would argue that everyone has the right to life regardless if they are developed or not. Following this view they would say that a foetus is a person at conception leading on to say that they have the total blue prints for a fully grown human and therefore have a right to life. For example if a perfectly happy human being was asked if they would like to die they would say no, there is no way to know the answer if it’s a foetus therefore they would say abortion is wrong and they have the right to life. The contrasting view to this (Pro-choice) would argue that if someone hasn’t developed as a person yet they do not have the right to life as they are not a person until they are born. With so many different factors and opinions as to when someone becomes a person this can become a difficult and awkward topic. For example if someone is a human if they have genetic makeup then this is would make them a human very close to conception but also if someone has qualities of a person when they are capable of rational thought foetuses wouldn’t be classed as a person with no right to life. If the right to life is the most important factor in deciding if someone is then other factors would have to be taken into consideration when looking at abortion. For example; the doctrine of Double
