Is religion the root of all evil in global society? I personally disagree that religion is the real reason of all the evil that happens in our world today, and believe that the statement is one of the first quasi attempts to try to understand and to deal with evil. Religion in its essence is just a prescription to a better way of life and a guidance system for the heart and character. Religion is replete with motivation. However, it is just not too obvious and as progressive as it should be and the preachers/religious leaders need higher standards in method and scrutiny to keep up with civilization. Why is it always religion that is getting picked on? Why is it always religion that gets the blame for all the bad things that happen in this world? There are evil religious people no doubt, but there are equally non-religious evil people in this world, so why blame the evilness of the people on religion. I personally believe politics and the love of money is the main issue of this world, not religion. Our economy is one of the main reasons of the evil in society today, for example many banks have reported that there are thousands of tax evading accounts, is religion still to blame? I agree that religion is in fact one of the leading causes of good in the world. Almost all religions teach compassion, forgiveness, honour and unselfishness of some sort. Although there have been many negative acts committed in the name of religion, this does not mean that those acts were directly caused by teachings of that certain religion. For example, Islam does not teach that terrorism is right and that killing people is the way to get to heaven but in fact the religion of Islam forbids any killing and is wanting to be the religion of peace not what certain people or groups make the religion look like.
