Even though our team was full of confidence and basketball consciousness, we still practiced a lot, and were well prepared for every game. Our team consisted of nice dribbler, outstanding rebounder, quick attacks player, an excellent 3 point shooter and a great isolation player. On the other hand, we did realize that there are many talented people who are not successful. No matter how smart or gifted you are, you need to work at it. We trained everyday after class for dribbling, passing, shooting, blocking, screening, free throwing.
Traits of Good Character Have you ever felt good when your teacher or friend said, “Thank you” or “You’re such a kind person?” How about knowing you did a good deed for someone? Respectable and moral traits demonstrate your behavior towards others and even yourself. Good characteristics can come from portraying trustworthy actions, respectful manners, responsible decisions, fair performances, caring deeds, and good citizenship. Not everyone can demonstrate all these traits, but everyone can at least show a few. Developing good behavior enhances your ability to communicate with others and can impact many peoples’ lives.
A woman wants to be seen as a woman, and by a woman participating in sports can often deter society’s view of that. For example, in high school I decided to give up basketball, I wanted to focus on my grades more than I had, even though that was it was time consuming, the biggest issue at the time was worrying about how I was viewed. Even though I had a boyfriend, displayed feminine “behavior” and “appearance”- I did not want to be labeled a lesbian because of my ability to play as well as my association with the other players on the team. I was so worried about what others would say and how I would look, I gave up playing organized sports. The girls who played on our basketball team were called gay/lesbians, and often treated like one of the guys vs. a girl with the ability to play good basketball.
My first practice finally arrived, and I made my practice plan out, but I wanted to think about what I was going to say to the young eleven year olds. I kept thinking for over an hour and I couldn’t think of the right thing, but finally I figured out the perfect speech. I remember exactly what I said I told the kids that 5th grade basketball is about getting better so you can play at the high school level. I told them it has nothing to do with winning, of course everyone likes to win, that’s not the most important part. Never focus on the winning aspect of the game; focus on making yourself the best player you can be, and the wins will come.
Reflective practice is essential to personal development and the goals and targets put in place at performance reviews can help to focus you and give you a renewed sense of ability to succeed and achieve. If needs have been identified then additional training can be arranged to help you become more effective in your role and improve your confidence. When considering reflective practice you need to be open to ideas and criticisms of others. Your should reflect on your own work and the work of others around you. You need to be constantly thinking of ways to develop and improve your practice and be able to
It is the coach’s job to instill these values upon kids, and if they do not do so, they should be the ones not awarded. Twelve year olds, and just about every other athlete in the world, are always developing mentally and physically; just because their team doesn’t win, that should never mean a child shouldn’t be acknowledged for their continuous effort. At this age, I would say that anyone learning a new
For most parents and their little girls it is just good fun. They do not take the beauty pageants seriously. For a few parents the beauty pageants become an obsession. This is when beauty pageants for children can suddenly become very harmful. “Critics of the industry warn that the stresses of competition, coupled with an extreme focus on physical appearance, can have a negative effect long before these girls will be eligible for Miss America.” (Triggs, West and Aradillas 160-168) The loss of self-esteem, the inability to show a full range of emotions, the fear of failure, the extreme focus on physical image, and the discord with or fear of parents are a few of the symptoms those little girls will suffer from.
The reason this is important is so you can make changes to how you work that lead to continuous improvement in the way you provide services. Reflective practice can be an important tool in practice based professional learning settings where individuals learning from their own professional experiences, rather than from formal teaching or knowledge transfer, may be the most important source of personal professional development improvement. That’s why Ms Gruwel was one whom they hate even more. But she did not want to surrender without a fight; well experienced with teaching skills she could get over this situation. Despite the resistance from school board and students’ unwillingness to learn something, she became admired among her class students just because she could help them to see the world from other sight. This is a usual life for people who live in such places with usual activities that follow them every day but there is unusual person who
