There are more and more people seeking cosmetic surgery since it has become accessible to ordinary people. They think that a better physical appearance will bring some advantages to them in the work market and daily life. Different from these people, I view that people who seek cosmetic surgery take an excessive interest in outside looks and overlook the importance of inner beauty, let alone the unknown risks for cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is so ubiquitous nowadays that many people are fooled into thinking that it is a simple and risk-free thing to do. But there is a sad fact that the failure percentage of cosmetic surgery keeps almost 57%, according to a study from Dr Samtagen, a surgeon who has several years’ experience in handling cosmetic surgery. If cosmetic surgery is a success, people are still in the danger of complications, such as infections, seromas, scarring, and nerve damage etc. What’s more, the general emotional arc after surgery begins with depression as you heal, then shifts to a honeymoon when you can see the result but soon morphs into some measure of disappointment. What are worse, people may plunge in the vicious recurrence. Their expectations of beauty will rise, even if the procedure is an improvement, they become deeply disappointed when the result isn’t “perfect”. On the face of it, cosmetic surgery will led to a succession of follow-on, there is nothing of the kind in what you imagine. On another note, this kind of pursuit of outside beauty through cosmetic surgery is somewhat superficial. Beauty, in a deeper and broader sense, is excellence and virtue in human being’s mind and character, which is much more powerful than outside beauty.
