Soon she realized she couldn’t share any of these stories with her husband though, because he told her “not to give way to fancy…” since she had quite a habit of story-making and a “nervous weakness” like hers may lead to other “fancies.” (Gilman 293) That can be viewed as an attempt to stifle her creativeness. It’s almost as if he wants to make her believe she really is crazy. In his mind, all she is doing is imagining things. It also seems as if he wants to completely control her. So far, he does.
People who have been cheated on will start to feel sorry for Bundy because they know how it feels to have to catch the one you love in the compromising situation. She then goes into a spill on how the man must have never loved her at all. She cries out, “didn’t love me ain’t no fool”. This is very logical because any man who has ever really loved a woman could not bring himself to being unfaithful. She goes into a description of how love has let her down and she will not be strung along, this builds pathos and ethos because she gets herself out of the situation by leaving him.
As is the nature of us human beings, we find it very difficult to trust a person once again when the delicate relationship of trust is broken be it at any level. If we do not trust a person with small trivial matters then it goes without saying that we cannot put our faith in her or him when it comes to more important issues. The movie, I feel tries to highlight this ‘loss of faith’ among ourselves and others through the portrayal of various strained relationships, which seem to search for gratification in each other for all the wrong reasons. The main characters in the film the husband and wife undergoing a separation because of a mutual understanding that they are not fit for each other see relying on each other more than ever now because of a problem which threatens their family. When this problem becomes too difficult for either one of them to handle they begin to blame each other for their misfortunes but realize that they only have each other’s support to get through it and suddenly their differences don’t seem that important.
Typically, a husband who can’t consummate a marriage should be abandoned without hesitation. When Bertrande is “urged by her relatives to separate from Martin, she firmly refuse[s]” (28). This decision reveals Bertrande’s “certain character traits…a concern for her reputation as a woman, a stubborn independence” (28). Bertrande cleverly calculates the advantages she possesses as a result of Martin’s incompetence. “Her refusal to have her marriage dissolved…freed her temporarily from certain wifely duties…gave her a chance to have a girlhood” (28).
He knows that she is starving for true love and uses that to his advantage. Ultimately, Connie does not better her life by running away. She is only tricked into leaving with Arnold who only tells her what she wants to hear. Although we do not know exactly what occurs,
This represents her unawareness of the concept of faithfulness because if a few words are all it takes for one to persuade another into cheating, then one must not understand the whole point of marriage in the first place. To continue, Alison plots with Nicholas to have an affair “as soon an opportunity she could spy” (Chaucer 2). Unlike the promise of faithfulness the old lady in “The Wife of Bath’s Tale” makes, Alison willingly cheats. She shows her immaturity in not thinking of the repercussions of her actions and how they might affect those around her. In addition, Alison displays childish behavior in the adolescent actions she does towards Absalom by sticking her bottom out the window and him not realizing it was not her face, therefore kissing it.
And this bad thing leads him to death finally. Willa Cather shows that the wrong way causes a bad ending. Her idea is important to all people, because many people try to get their future in many different ways, but they only pursuing their desire, not think about the consequences. Through this story, I learned that there is no simple way, only the effort is best way to accomplish my
You do something above and beyond there will be a reward, you do something you know you are not supposed to do and there will be a negative consequence. This instills the idea of right and wrong. It prevents them from believing every action they take in the right direction earns a reward, but also lets them know that is they fall in their behavior that they will be reprimanded for their actions. Most parents from the study this book is based off of believed this was the option they thought they were using. However after discussing with other parents they found that they had flawed their own parenting plan by not being consistent enough with either of the
In "The Lottery," Tessie is so entrenched, that she sees no way out. In "The Wave," Lori bugs into indoctrinization but she can think for herself and stand up for what she believes in and change what is happening. This says that society is so selfish they are to blind to see what is going on in front of them. And people who do see what is going on should act out, take a stand and start changing things. And if you don't the consequences could end up being really bad, it could lead to losing your friendship with someone because of a disagreement or it can even lead to
Her stubbornness of course, is what forces Antigone to rashly take matters in to her own hands, and take the body of Polyneices. She did not realize until she was about to die, that she had possibly acted foolishly. Antigone shared her flaw with Creon, who seemed to have an even more obstinate personality. Her downfall began with her proud soul and neglecting the King’s law. She goes against Creon to stay true to herself and her own family, and by that decision, her fate was sealed.
