Is Global Warming real Global warming has caused a lot of attention from experts and scientists leaving the public asking themselves whether it is real or not. Many organizations and governments use the term global warming, generally there is no universal definition for it, but there is a general understanding of what the term reference. It is the rising of average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere due to greenhouse gases. According to NASA, the first person to investigate global warming was Swedish scientist named Svante Arrhenius (1859-1927), who published a new idea. As humanity burned fossil fuels such as coal, carbon dioxide gas was added to the Earth's atmosphere, raising the planet's average temperature. This acceleration of the greenhouse effect was one of many speculations about climate, and not the most believable at the time. Scientists found good reason to believe that our emissions could not change the climate, as major change seemed impossible except over tens of thousands of years. Since, this is still a debated issue; some scientists believe that the cause of global warming is man –made. However some do not believe that human activities threaten to disrupt the climate. According to Encarta Encyclopaedia (2001, 2002), Scientists disagree on how global warming takes place, but the most widely held belief is the greenhouse effect theory. Certain gases in the atmosphere act like glass in a greenhouse, allowing sunlight through to heat the earth’s surface but trapping the heat from radiation back into space. As the greenhouse gases build up, the atmosphere of the earth gets hotter. The main greenhouse gases are water vapour, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and nitrous oxide. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, they claim that Human activities are a large contributor to the levels of these gases. The burning
