There are people who say that this generation is the dumbest because of lack of ability to focus for long periods of time. Also people might say that technology is making this generation lazy. Others might believe that this generation isn’t the dumbest. They might think that technology is helping us adapt to the world around them due to the fact that the world is run by technology. Even though this generation might be losing some ability to focus for long periods of time, technology is helping us adapt to the ever-changing world.
Tevin Hutchinson 11/10/2012 English 102 Technology plays a huge role in our everyday life. I do believe that technology has made our lives easier, but it also has made us more dependent on the technology itself. When using the internet for a dictionary you could easily get distracted. Anyone can put anything on the internet, so what you find might not be accurate. Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.
With the government as one of their main customers threatening to fine the company for poor quality and some of their other customers voicing their concerns about the quality of their products is bringing negative feedback to Wengart Aircraft (Brown, 2011). When the word gets out throughout the industry that Wengart is delivering products with poor quality, other businesses and customers will be reluctant to work with the company. B. Micro One of the micro problems is that the profits for the company are not where they need to be and the recent quality issues could make matters worse due to dissatisfaction from the government and other customers (Brown, 2011). The Secretary of Defense has sent the company a latter to inform them that if they did not increase their quality be 20%, they would be penalized and only receive partial payment (Brown, 2011). If the company were to be penalized in a time like this, their profits are likely to take a much greater hit.
Is the internet making us stupid? That’s the great controversy in our society these days. Believe it or not internet is making us more and more lazy by the minute. Not to mention that, it distracts us from what we’re really supposed to be doing, but also it has slowly downgraded our intelligence. By all means, internet has been a blessing, however, in the same way a knife to the way we’re thinking.
The way technology has driven the last half of a century has changed life astronomically. Everyday people crave and desire the next big thing on the market. Whether it is the hybrid car or touch screen phone, the need for something more leaves room in life for unhappiness when those items are not obtained. Lao-Tzu strongly argued that when people do not want anything, they are okay with living simple. This is beyond the truth of today.
I personally side with the latter opinion that solitude brings about angst and sadness to a person. In The Metamorphosis, Kafka illustrates threefold how solitude brings angst and sadness to Gregor. Gregor is left alone by his family as they move on with their lives, his family takes all his worldly possessions from him without consideration to him, and they began to be troubled and averse to being alone in the same house with him. Even before Gregor woke up to find himself transformed into an unsightly creature, Gregor had experienced large doses of solitude in his life. Gregor had little to no friends, and his job consumed all of his focus.
I had my ups and downs, while attending Medtech College. The worst experience at Medtech was the math class that they offer. I had to take math twice before I passed. I was so happy to complete the class on the second time around and with a “C.” I’ve been on the Dean Team four times and the Honor Roll three times. At this time my current GPA is at 3.68, and continuing to go
These narratives help convey that the major purpose of technology is to help mankind. In the last few years, as the narratives show, technology has become a greater part of everyday life. But more than sales potential, consumers would suffer the consequences of not benefitting from technologies amazing
Why is technology so harmful to us? Isn’t it supposed to help us advance our world? Yes, it does help makes the world more advanced and faster, but it also makes people behave morally wrong and become more dependent of technology. The advancement of technology can’t be stopped but doesn’t mean we can’t restrain ourselves from being completely dependent and obeying it. The advancement of technology corrupts young mindset and education.
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, was said to have been written about how technology like television and other media were making people less interested in ideas. Bradbury was thinking of the future and how it could be affected by over use of electronics. Mathew Ingram, a blogger on Gigaom tech blog, had asked “Are we living in Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451?” I believe that we almost living in the world of Ray Bradbury’s novel. Too many people are more interested in media, than in books and ideas. The majority of society would would rather pick up their smartphones than pick up a book.
