Most people shudder at the thought or sight of a Pit Bull and consider them vicious atrocities, but I will show that Pit Bulls are innocent and really are just misunderstood. I would like to give some facts, dispel some myths, and show the side of the breed that the media chooses not to tell. American Pit Bull Terriers were first introduced during World War I and World War II. The job of the Pit Bull was to deliver messages back and forth across the battlefield. Pit Bulls were first bred to bait bulls and bears as a sport back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but soon became more commonly used as house pets due to their friendliness towards people (Brom, 1987-09, p.14).
Lennie seems to be very strong, but in reality he is the weakest character in the novel “Of Mice And Men”, because of the lack of his mentality ability and the missing characteristic to think for himself and make his own decisions. The strong characters are attacking the weaker characters in this book, and the Forstner 3 weaker are attacking the weakest. Are good example of this would be when Carlson compels Candy to let him shoot his dog against his will. “I'll put the old devil out of his misery now,” (Steinbeck, 47). Or when crooks teased Lennie “jus' s'pose he don't come back,” (Steinbeck, 72).
The room is made out to be a privilege because it keeps him closer to the horses, but in fact it is really because the other hands do not want him sharing a bunk house with them. As a result of this prejudice Crooks has become bitter and very lonely. When Lennie comes to pet puppies, not even knowing that Crooks’ room is ‘out of bounds’ he tries to enter it; Crooks instantly becomes uncivil “I ain’t wanted in the bunk room and you ain’t wanted in my room”(Steinbeck 68). Lennie with his childish innocence is completely without prejudice “Why ain’t you wanted” (Steinbeck 68). Crooks retaliates with this: “Cause I’m black, they play cards in there but I can’t play because I’m black.
Zaroff and Rainsford are on the same page when it comes to hunting animals; they do not view hunting as morally wrong. However, they hold extremely opposite opinions on that of hunting man. Rainsford becomes appalled by General Zaroff when he
I, on the other hand, like to eat meat and would rather not think of the animal that had to be killed in order to get it. Furthermore, I can compare my love for nature to Bass’s. Because he loves nature so much he struggles with the fact he is a hunter and even says hunting and killing are not the same thing. Yet, in the end of his reflection he refers to himself as a killer in saying, “I’m a killer, sometimes. I wish I weren’t, but I am.
Wart is a very good person, but his actions always seem to go overlooked by everyone. One prime example of this is when Kay brought the griffin head and Wart brought Wat as a reward for saving the trapped prisoners. Wat was a mad man but Wart believed that Merlyn could have cured him. Wart obviously has the right intentions and put the well being of others his top priority. When the boys come back home, everyone seems disgusted to see Wat back but everyone seems proud of Kay especially Sir Ector.
‘As if,’ said Simon, ‘the beastie, the beastie or the snake-thing, was real. Remember?’” (Golding 19) The previous quotation represents that Ralph wants to build shelters, because he knows that the kids are afraid—but all Jack wants to do is hunt. Would that have helped? We know that the boys themselves are the beast, but the boys don't. Maybe building huts would have helped them feel safe enough to keep Simon
Jack does not like to be afraid, so after shrinking at the cry of the birds, “… the frustration, claimed him again…” (Line 26) The frustration mentioned, is due to the fact that he became inferior to this small bird for a matter of moments. Throughout this
At one point in our lives, we will have to face a fear. The fear you will face could be anything from flying to having your tonsils removed. In A Separate Peace, Phineas and Gene both experience fear, though Gene experiences it far more as he is insecure. Gene is insecure about almost everything, including his background and his intelligence. However, Finny is not very insecure, so he cannot relate to this.
But they all agree that when they take time to think about it deeply, there is something repulsive about treating humble animals this way. What does this say about human beings when we enjoy seeing pain? As St Francis of Assisi once said “If you have men who will exclude any of god's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.” The way we treat animals reflects the way we treat each other. You might say our ancestors have been doing it for years well a lot of things have change we’ve learned it’s wrong to urinate on the street well it’s wrong to use animals in this way. The society is changing rapidly I know that a lot of things are being done to help put a stop to molesting animals this way, but we need to act faster.
