Within our organisation, duty of care means that our employer, the agency has a duty to look after us, by that I mean ensuring that we receive the necessary training prior to carrying out our duties and that we are regularly briefed about changes to regulations. The agency is obliged to ensure that we have all the necessary information, training, instruction and supervision to prepare us to deliver the care to the service users. Aiv. Duty of Care contributes to safeguarding individuals by obligating a level of care towards them as is reasonable in all circumstances to avoid injury to either themselves or their property.
Because it also includes details about what you are aiming to achieve, it is used to judge your performance. So the more well defined it is, the better chance you have of success! The scope of your job role should also clarify what you must not do. This could include activities for which you have yet to be trained; activities that you are not capable of doing, for example, because of your health status or lack in seniority or of experience; activities that your age, sex and understanding prevents you from carrying out, such as helping someone of the opposite sex with intimate care needs; and your criminal record. Working in ways that are clearly defined as ‘no go’ puts the health, safety and emotional wellbeing of all concerned at risk.

By reflecting on work situations, you are able to deal with any negative feelings or anxieties to do with work. By dealing with these frustrations rather than pushing them to the back of your mind, you will be able to have a more positive attitude at work. 3. Self reflection is also knowing that I may need professional development in an area. This is needed so that I can be able to show unconditional positive regard, a non judgemental attitude and to be able to show empathy. Therefore it is important that I take time out to reflect in my performance and development. Self awareness can also be done in supervision or through peers. It helps to keep one’s mind fresh and with new ideas on how to deal with issues which I face during my sessions with a client.
While a little amount of fear and lack of trust might be necessary, excess of these things is not good and prevents one from doing a lot of things including difficulty in communicating effectively. It is important that service users trust the service providers because the service user may not take the service providers advice with could be potentially dangerous or even life threatening. A boundary must then be set around the behaviour by communicating why the behaviour is inappropriate and informing the aggressor. Discussing the behaviour with the aggressor by telling them how it affects other people feel must be done. You must then identify and communicate consequences to the aggressor if the behaviour does not stop. Submissive Behaviour Submissive behaviour is when a person is shy from telling a person how they really feel and not seeking to achieve their needs, particularly when other people have conflicting needs. A submissive person usually fears upsetting others because they do not wish to hurt their feelings or fear them.
Restating what the speaker has said makes certain that there is a common understanding between the listener and the speaker. Active listening can also give the speaker confidence that the listener is interested in what the speaker has to say. When people are in conflict, they often contradict each other. This tends to make people defensive, and they will either lash out or withdraw and say nothing more. However, if they feel that people are really attuned to their concerns and want to listen, they are likely to explain in detail what they feel and why.
When discrimination happens it may be intentional, but it can also be because of ignorance or lack of unyou should always challenge discrimination at work, but to do it, it is essential that you can recognise anti-discrimination derstanding. It is not easy to change the views of others, but you must challenge discriminatory comments and actions. It is important to learn assertiveness strategies that can help you recognise discrimination. It is important not to speak out of angry emotions, and again sometimes it is best to tell an employee that one may need to think on the matter first before responding. While it may not seem like a "big deal" it is important to make sure that the words that are used when speaking to employees are simple and clear. Some employees may not understand the use of large words, and therefore the message that the manager / supervisor is trying to convey may be lost. Good grammar is also a must for every type communication. Use of slang terms is not a wise idea, as what is acceptable in generation / culture could be offensive to the next.. We must make sure we are saying exactly what we mean to and clearly enough that so that others are going to hear exactly what the manager / supervisor is trying to say.
