American Journal of Critical Care, 21(4), 251-259. doi:10.4037/ajcc201262611 A2. Graphic Background Information | Pain assessment can help to minimize incidence of pain and shorter durations of mechanical ventilation and stays in the intensive care unit. | Review of the Literature | The researchers reviewed reputable sources to provide facts and statistics regarding pain assessment and management. The researchers reviewed the way nurses assess pain for patients unable to communicate; possible solutions were suggested to improve knowledge to assess and manage pain in ICUs units. | Methodology | A self-administrative questionnaire was mailed to 3753 intensive care unit nurses identified through the 12 Canadian provincial/ territorial nursing associations responsible for professional regulation.
I will use reflection to compare my findings to how literature states it should be done. I plan to show an understanding of holistic care and how it is used in each stage of the nursing process. Holistic care is an approach to healthcare which treats the individual as a whole person in relation to their needs (Hinchliff et al, 1998). In order to maintain confidentiality I have provided my client with a pseudonym (Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2002). I based this assignment on Mary, who is a 72 year old lady and suffers with osteoarthritis which is a degenerative disorder in bone and cartilage (Hinchliff et al, 1996).

Nursing Theorist Grid Crystal Kent, RN NUR/403 Theories and Models of Nursing Practice 04/20/12 Ethel Jones, Ed.S, DSN, RN Nursing Theorist Grid Use grid below to complete the Week 4-Nursing Theorists assignment. Please see the “Nursing Theorists’ Grading Criteria” document, located on the Materials page of the student Web site. Name: Crystal Kent, RN Theorist Selected: Sister Callista Roy Description of Theory: Adaptation refers to “the process and outcome whereby thinking and feeling persons as individuals or in groups, use conscious awareness and choice to create human and environmental integration” (Jones & Bartlett, 2010). The adaptation level represents life processes and are described by Roy in three levels: integrated, compensatory, and compromised life processes. Roy’s Adaptation Model uses coping processes, both innate (genetically acquired) and acquired (learned or developed) to adapt in a manner that achieves optimal health and well being.
Nursing Research Article Review Worksheet NUR/518 June 9, 2014 Professor Dominguez-Mathewson Nursing Research Article Review Worksheet 1. Describe the study and how it relates to your area of nursing. This is a quantitative research design study that randomly selected 180 nurses to determine how rewards impact job satisfaction and employee retention. During one of the Leadership meetings I attend, I learned that 67% of our Emergency Department consisted of new nurses. These new nurses have less than 2 years of experience.

The study population was made of 1543 women (mean age 27.7 years) recruited from four urban hospitals in Utah, USA. Patients reported their height, pre-pregnancy weight, and pregnancy weight gain immediately postpartum; their body mass index (BMI) before pregnancy was also calculated. At 6–8 weeks after delivery, patients received a self-administered questionnaire by mail that contained the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. The study found that obese women were older, less educated, and more frequently parous and non-Hispanic whites, compared with women of normal weight. In here, we can see the post-birth physical and metal effects.
The article focused on Somali immigrants, in particular, the women’s understanding about promoting health and how they utilize health care services after resettling in the United States. 45 Somali women were contacted about the study, and a total of 34 women were interviewed for the study. Sixteen (47%) were Bantu Somali women and eighteen (53 %) were non-Bantu Somali women. Ages ranged from 18 to 53. The duration of residence in the United States ranged from 2 months to 9 years.
Fragou, S, Chih, CC had similar findings as Jurrian Kamp did in his studies on depression and violence. Some researchers would won’t to corroborate Kamp’s studies on the effects of omeg-3 as a useful remedy to an escalating problem in society. Natural produced and its apart of the food group pyramid, fish its high in protein and low in fat. Kamp based his opionions on the a study done by Bernard Gesch a physiologist out of Oxford University. Chicc, CC also uses a study that he conducted on a 34 year old pregnant female.
