Throughout the four month internship programme I was faced with many challenges, but having started this internship with an open mind set, the desire to learn as much as possible and the willingness to give my all, I overcome those challenges fairly easy. However, even heading into the internship with such a positive attitude, there was definitely underlining fear of being in a new work environment and the fear of the inability to meet job expectations. At the beginning of the internship, I struggled with finding my way around the clinic, I was unfamiliar with where instruments and supplies were stored in the clinic. Therefore, I resorted to approaching the nurses or veterinarians who were free for help, also, I paid more attention to my surrounding and put in extra effort in remembering where different supplies were kept. For in-house blood work, SingVet used the IDEXX Suite Veterinary Diagnostic Analyser blood machines, which includes a Blood Chemistry and Electrolyte Analyser, a Haematology Analyser and a SNAPshot Dx Analyser, which I am now able to operate independently. Other equipment that I have learnt to set up and operate includes the microchip scanner, fluid pump, dental machine. And X-Ray machine. Aside from that, I have also learnt how to exhibit proper decorum when handling difficult clients and situations, as well as how to effectively communicate and interact with clients and fellow colleagues. The internship was also an opportunity for me to gain insights into professional aspects of a veterinary practices and gain expose to the challenges and demands of the working world. Furthermore, it was a chance for me to develop good working relationships with the people at SingVet, allowing me to expand my network in the veterinary
