Some people from the older generations may look down on web-based communication, and disagree with it. This may be because people that use it do not speak standard English, and this may be hard for the older generations to understand. Whereas is spoken conversation, which some older generations normally prefer people tend to speak standard English, and not use or use as many abbreviations, acronyms, or other non-standard English terms. There happen to be many similarities between web-based communication, and spoken conversation, one of which is in both ways of communicating taking it in turns to speak, or say something is still expected. An online example of this is…
In addition to that, spoken language and web based communication both use hedging. For instance when people are asking a favour or trying to soften the force at which something is said they will use hedging. In web based communication hedging is used a lot, it is used frequently to avoid misinterpretation, for example if somebody was trying to give advice and was not trying to be too harsh they would add in words like “possibly” and “perhaps”. Concluding on the similarities, spoken language and wed based communication both use phatic
However, this may be the proper thing to do, but let’s face it… it’s not happening that way. We know this because there have been times when we searched for information and depending on which site you are referencing the information will be different. So that tells us that someone is not inputting the proper information. When searching the Internet for information it is best to use creditable sites. Most government sites will have safe and correct information to use.
IPv6 specifies a new packet format, designed to minimize packet header processing by routers. Because the headers of IPv4 packets and IPv6 packets are significantly different, the two protocols are not interoperable. However, in most respects, IPv6 is a conservative extension of IPv4. Most transport and application-layer protocols need little or no change to operate over IPv6. Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) was originally developed for IPv6, but found widespread deployment first in IPv4, for which it was re-engineered.
Video Case Assignment #2 Questions Questions: 1. a. Some advantages of an online survey of a cross section of Internet households are lower costs, instant results, instant updates, and better responses. The disadvantages are that not all households have Internet access, if the survey is sent via email, it may be considered junk mail. How is it beneficial to today’s way in life? Do these networks entitle privacy? Why/Why not? Is social networking safe? With much With much deliberation, this topic has become a very interesting argument. What people must understand is that social networking should not just be seen as an enemy but should be more focused on how it can also be a person’s best friend as well with communication/interaction. It is given in Clive Thompson’s, “I’m So Totally, Digitally, Close to You,” that “people are so often changed by the use of technology”(Thompson-p.168-177).
Tevin Hutchinson 11/10/2012 English 102 Technology plays a huge role in our everyday life. I do believe that technology has made our lives easier, but it also has made us more dependent on the technology itself. When using the internet for a dictionary you could easily get distracted. Anyone can put anything on the internet, so what you find might not be accurate. Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.
However, it is extremely easy to make a website these days, anyone can make one. With anyone making there own website could mean that it might just be there own personal opinion and less research. I also prefer the basic white background with black text rather than the colourful background because it’s a bit distracting and it doesn’t add anything to the text itself. Also the text in the leaflet seems to be comprised mainly of facts and statistics which do not appeal to me nor do they sway my current opinion of social networking as a whole. The leaflet being in leaflet form however is the biggest reason that it doesn’t appeal me. If it were in a form of a website it could perhaps be more enticing and more appealing to me, but alas it is not.
