When children start to abuse the convenience of the internet by harassing other people, the internet becomes very dangerous. What makes cyber bullying so dangerous? Cyber bullying is dangerous because it has the ability to take the smallest incident and build up so much tension around it that it results in a murder or suicide. Some people may blame the victim for lacking self control and not being able to ignore the situation. Some people may claim it was just a joke and may blame the victim for being too sensitive or insecure.
There are many reasons to worry about it. This social media is hurting our society in such way that it causing harm to one’s privacy, it disseminates misinformation, and effect on student’s grade. It is clear that social media is hurting our society by putting one’s privacy and security at risk. In the article “Teens Privacy Is Threatened by Social Networking” author Peter Bazalgette said, “Can you truly delete entries from social networking sites with the confidence they no longer exist on a server somewhere? You cannot” (Bazalgette p.1).
However, with the advancement in technology and its wide use, a new type of bullying has developed, cyberbullying, which is when a person uses technology and/or electronic devices to bully another person, typically by sending messages or posting comments of an intimidating or threatening nature. What makes cyber-bullying much more dangerous than regular bullying is that because if it on the internet, it will stay there for a long time and for everyone to see. What’s worse, is that the bully can easily hide under a different name or profile, making it harder to find out who is responsible in terms of facing consequences. It is very important to delete cyberbullying because when teenagers begin to abuse the convenience of the internet to harass others, it creates a very dangerous environment that extends outside the classroom or school. When someone is being harassed or embarrassed online, it reaches far outside of their world, and strangers all
Bullying victims can have a lot of stress added on and it can lead to retaliation such as school shootings as well as suicide. Cyber bullying is the more modern type of bullying and some argue that it's the most harmful. When it comes to cyber bullying anyone can become the bully. Cyber bullying is legally defined as actions that use information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group that is intended to harm another or others. Many bullies and witnesses don’t know how severe the effects of cyber bullying can be. People who are cyber bullied often bring harm upon themselves by cutting themselves, or even killing themselves. The name pretty much sums up what these threats are. In this type of unsolicited attack, a series of regular pings often used for basic troubleshooting, are generated and sent out across groups of ip addresses. I t was noted that where a normal administrator would only ping one or two intended destinations, the internet criminal would be more ambitious and perform these sweeps, looking for as many network endpoints that they can be connected to (Conklin, White , Cothren, & Williams, 2004)). One key thing to note is that DNS lookups can also be the result of ping sweeps and port scans, using the same ping utility, but taking things a step further in the infiltration process. The IP addresses ware linked to endpoint names, which gives an attacker access to information as well to produce the end points names.

Bullying does not just affect the victim, inadvertently; it affects everyone the victim is associated with too. Bullying should be seen as a crime because it ruins the targets chances at a normal and happy childhood, which everyone is rightfully entitled to, it destroys children’s and adolescents self-esteem, puts them into a depression, they may stop attending school which will in turn lower their grades, and it can even lead to self-harm and suicide. Usually children look forward to making friends at school and playing games with others, but if a child is bullied, they then become an outcast and slowly start reproaching socializing with society. The ones who have been bullied are usually the more subdued and quiet children. They probably do not speak in class or in a group and usually tend to avoid team sports and activities because they do not want to be chosen last.
