By the mid to late 90s, the internet grew to be the primary source of providing information and media across the globe. Early in the new millennium, it was used by over three hundred million users. This heightened popularity gave way to new ways of relaying the information to the masses. At around the same time, a popular choice of media amongst internet users became the video. It was only a matter of time before the internet video evolved into something far greater. In 2005, the website YouTube.com was created. This offered average people a chance to broadcast videos to a wide variety of their peers.YouTube.com has now become one of the fastest growing phenomenons that the internet has ever seen. It is even lumped together with such internet powerhouses as Yahoo and eBay. YouTube serves up 100 million videos a day. Expanding with these numbers at such an intense rate, its fan base continues to grow. For those of you who aren’t already familiar with YouTube, it is a way of uploading and sharing video clips among internet users. YouTube offers a wide variety of content including popular music videos, commercials, video game trailers, TV clips, etc. Although it does include professional content, many of its users enjoy the amateur home footage submitted by everyday users. Its popularity is steadily on the rise as more and more users join daily. It became so much of a hit on the internet that Google Inc. offered to buy YouTube in 2006 for over one and a half billion dollars. It’s estimated worth presently is approximately two billion dollars. So, you can see the rapid growth and popularity of this website just within a year’s span. Being that YouTube is so popular with the general public, there are several rules that each video must follow. Absolutely no nudity is allowed to be uploaded onto the website at any time.
