This critique paper is intended to inform, describe and explain a system and it’s role in International Politics and Polarity Theories central arguments, assumptions and terms, focusing on China as a case study. System and how it’s used in International Politics In everything that we do or apart of, there’s a system. Likewise, there’s a system in International Politics. To begin with, a system is a forming idea that links things together. More specially, the purpose of a system in International Politics is to produces patterns of behavior between actors, states and non-states. The concept of a system is used in International Politics in various ways. First as procedure, then as description and lastly as method or approach. System can be used as procedure in which interactions between actors are identified and have a pattern in International Politics. The system can also be used to describe or explain the nature of behavior between actors in the International setting. And lastly, system can be seen and used as an approach on different issues, applications, concepts and as well as policies in International Politics. Polarity Theories. Polarity theories according to realist are the various ways in which power is distributed within the International system. These various ways ranges from the Balance of Power Theory, Hegemony Stability Theory, Power Transition Theory and Long Cycles of World Leadership The Balance of Power Theory central argument is that the system is more stable when there’s an equal balance of power. BOP theory has three models, Unipolar which is more of a hegemony leadership like the US, Bipolar where two great powers exists like the US and USSR and Multipolar where power is distributed amongst other nations similar to the US, China, France, Russia so on.
