An interior designer is professionally trained to create a functional and quality interior environment. Qualified through education, experience and examination, a professional designer can identify research and creatively resolve issues and lead to a healthy, safe and comfortable physical environment. There are many different career fields for interior designers. For example there are commercial, bath, kitchen, and contemporary designers. An interior designer who does commercial interior designing is about designing and developing unique and immersive interiors for commercial environments, from hotels, bars, restaurants and workspaces to the interiors of animation/film and game design. On the commercial side of interior designers work with space planning, hotels, offices, restaurants. Interior designers must know how to plan a space and how to present that plan visually so that it can be communicated to the client. Interior designers must also know about the materials and products that will be used to create and furnish the space, and how texture, color, lighting and other factors combine and interact to make a space. Interior designers must be comfortable meeting and dealing with many kinds of people. They must communicate clearly and effectively, as well as be attentive listeners. Because they often must work with architects, contractors and other service providers, interior designers need to be both good team leaders and good team players. They must be willing to negotiate and mediate when necessary to solve problems. Interior designers have comprehensive professional training and technical responsibilities and must have an understanding of many things.
