10/14/10 Essay 2 Professor Nater Inspiring Woman All women are alike. Even though we as woman have our differences, we are similar in many ways. Take for example Ella from House of Payne and Mama Johnson from the short story “Everyday Use.” These two women have so much in common. They are both family material, both Hard working women, and they are both church women. However they have their differences. We can say that women like Ella and Mama Johnson are the type of woman who don’t have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class. Both of these women believes to be good mother one needs to stay home and be there for their children (Bowman, par. 3). These women dedicate all of their time for their families, even ignoring their own problems just to focus on their family issues. First, Ella is truly a family woman, in the show House of Payne. We see that Ella has to care for so many people: Her husband, her son, nieces, nephews, but she knows how to do it so well. She makes sure everybody’s problems are taken care of. She is always there no matter what, and anything the family needs, the first person that they would come to is Ella. Ella takes care of her household from putting food on the table to doing their laundry. She is the definition of a hard working woman, she always doing something. If she’s not at home taking care of her family, she’s at the health center, where she volunteers or at the church, taking care of the homeless by feeding them and donating clothes. While watching the show I myself wonder if she ever gets tired. Ella has everything that a woman needs as a wife. She is loving, caring, and has a heart of an angel. (“Tyler’s cast”, par.1) We can say the same for Mama Johnson. Mama is a great mother; she cares so much for her children she wouldn’t put anything before her children.
