Kiss my fucking ass Tragedies that happen at most school even universities, have done with students committing suicide and student shootings. Many people and reporters always diagnosed these students with either a psychiatric problem or some other disorder the child has had while growing up. They really don’t get the real story of what really influenced these people to do what they did and did they try to show signs that they needed help. People already think that they solved and investigated the problem of the V-tech shooting. They already think that the man Chos was on antidepressants and was seeking psychiatric help.
Although Maté is around these patients and talk to them all the time, the other side of the argument is that it doesn’t mean that drug addictions always originate from unhappiness. Most people with drug addictions are unhappy and depressed, although some people are just naturally susceptible to addictions. Maté demonstrates this theory by observing infant rats that did not get a lot of grooming from their parents. This lack of grooming leads to development of fewer benzo receptors and helps to prove his claim that all children need positive parental interactions to enhance the growth of their brains. These receptors are what the drugs bind with to create the psychological effect on the brain.
Is it Drugs Not Guns that Cause Violence? The recent shooting in Newtown Connecticut brought a shocking surprise to the Nation a few months ago. Many young lives were taken and such a tragedy strongly impacted the people thought the United States. The big question was ‘why’. Why did this kid feel he needed to take the lives of innocent people?
Violent Adolescents Annette Fuentes writes an interesting article called Crackdown on Kids. Fuentes wrote this article for the June 15/22 issue of The Nation. This article is about how we have neglected to see the real problem at hand with juvenile delinquents and how quick we as a society are to just throw them in detention facilities rather than solve the problems in a more effective manner. Fuentes wrote this article in response to the shooting sprees at a school in Jonesboro, Arkansas. On March 24, 1998, three boys, ages 11, 13, and 15, unloaded a slew of mini arsenals and were responsible for the deaths of four students and a teacher.
The Real Victim About thirteen thousand people are killed per year in the Untied States of America. On April 20, 1999, 15 students, including the perpetrators were killed in the Columbine High School Massacre. The Columbine High School Massacre, also known as Columbine, occurred in Columbine which is an unincorporated part of Jefferson County, Colorado. Two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, embarked on a massacre, killing 12 students and one teacher. They also injured 21 students directly and three others were injured while attempting to escape.
One thing that I have read in the Daily News was that school shootings are the number one cause of student deaths in the United States and this is very sad. Another statement in the Daily News that caught my attention was that the number one cause of school shootings was bullying and pair pressure. When kids are bullied , they
Violence; The Real Deal On April 20, 1999 there was a massacre at columbine high school twelve students and one teacher died that day. Even though there have been many incenses. Columbine has changed the way we view school violence. Can we stop someone from any king of violence? As a country we try by adding cops at school ,metal detectors by the front door entrances, and even separate schools, one for the good students and another for the bad.
Therefore, there will be a consistent controversy to see who will be responsible the safety of anyone who believes in the Second Amendment. First, many tragedies have occurred in the world and in the United States due to increase of violence. For instance, in July 2012, a gunman opened fire in a Colorado movie theatre, killing twelve. In addition, an even more a horrendous act occurred in December 14, 2012, when a mentally ill twenty year old man attacked a school
Allowing faculty to carry firearms can have an effect on mass shootings at schools. On 1999 in Columbine fifth teen people were killed, in Minnesota nine people were murdered, in Virginia thirty three were killed, and in Connecticut twenty eight were murdered. Allowing faculty to carry firearms would greatly cut the amount of murders that were committed. Trained faculty can protect children and themselves, while allowing more time for the authorities to arrive at the
On December 14, 2012 a man named Adam Lanza went into an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut and killed twenty six people. The fact that twenty of them were children makes me sick to my stomach. Since the Newtown tragedy, over three thousand people have died because of gun violence. And the laws that America has today, does not help the gun violence that we have in this country. How would you feel if your son or daughter was shot and killed at school?
