Teachers and professors think the Web is great to a certain point though. Teachers have noticed students are carried away by the Web because they are focusing less on reading. Carr agrees, “…. They don’t necessarily read a page from left to right and from top to bottom. They might instead skip around, scanning for pertinent information of interest… I can’t get my students to read whole books anymore…” (318).
In Josh Roses’: How social media is having a positive impact on our culture, in Current Issues Page.612. Josh states, “I recently asked the question to my face book friends: “Twitter, Face book, Foursquare … is all of this making you feel closer to the people or farther away?” There would be a lot different responses because some people might agree and say that it does bring me closer to people and other might say no, it keeps us farther away from people of our age. I see people intertwining with the use of social media in and out on a daily basis to keep up with life. The use of social media technology is also being used in the education world and is becoming increasingly more normal in classrooms all across our country. There are handful of benefits behind the use of social media in an educational system.
Cost savings can be computerized accounting programs reduce staff time doing accounts and reduce audit expenses as records are neat, up-to-date and accurate. This system allows them to record business transactions accurately and generate financial reports quickly for management review. However if Rumble carry less transactions this means they won’t need to have computerised accounting system because it is very expensive for them to use. In this case it is best for them to have manual accounting system because it is reliable, cheap and easy to use. They can easily do their transaction without problems.
Although the computer is fantastic in many ways and has helped improve civilization’s way of living, have people all over the world come to rely on this device too much? Computers make life far easier and many people living today probably could not function if they were sent back in time before computers were created. Although people are just taking advantage of the presence of this technology, people need to realize how to use it responsibly and not to overuse it. Computers let people communicate with each other in the blink of an eye. This revolutionary way of communication can help build relationships and bonds between people.
Without access to social media a brand can become lost. It would be beneficial to any brand, large or small, to utilize social media to expand their brand awareness and enter into new markets. Twitter grants one-on-one interaction with our consumers. This makes us more approachable, we are viewed as people instead of a brand. It created trust between us.
However, Study Skills comes with many important reasons to keep the class. The class would allow practicing the material in his classes. They allow him note take and further intensive reading, which would allow him to understand the material better. The class has no papers to turn to the professor. Even though he has a full load of classes not having turn any work would allow him to relax, because he would focusing on current and not any extra work.
Students do not realize that plagiarizing someone else’s work is actually stealing. The educational system does not teach this to students. The educational system should teach that you have to cite an author even if you just take their idea and do not use their exact words. The online companies that generate essays for students should be outlawed. This is making it where students that have a lot of money can easily get by with actually learning how to write correctly.
Annotation may seem like it has many implications, but those uses don’t outweigh the lessons and enjoyment of reading. To begin, annotating a book reduces the positive experience obtained from the book. In particular, the book 1984 by George Orwell is a prime example of this. As a student in the sophomore class, a student who has chosen to remain anonymous has had a firsthand account of this. He says “1984 has been boring, and annotating it doesn’t help.
Chris Street wrote an original research article, “Expository Text and Middle School Students: Some Lessons Learned”, and tells us that middle school students face difficulty reading expository texts because they were not taught how to read in this fashion while in elementary school. While in elementary school, they read short novels and chapter books, whereas, in middle school they are expected to read content area text. According to this article, teachers can help their middle school students overcome reading deficiencies by developing a student’s former knowledge on a subject before reading it. Street provides very good strategies on how to engage students with expository text, which consists of: before reading, during reading, and after reading. Before reading strategies include developing
