Media is the source of all information for people throughout the world. Media can come in many different forms such as Magazines and News Papers, Television programs, the internet, pictures and images, the radio, and even movies. All these forms of media eventually end up influencing us in one way or another. We are constantly fed information by the media that persuades us to believe in something or to be a certain way. How many commercials a day do you see on t.v. or hear on the radio about losing weight, or getting rid of acne? The media has already etched into the publics minds as to what the meaning of “beautiful” is. Many people may argue that the media has no control over any aspect of their lives, yet the media continues to influence us in many different ways as a way of keeping the public under a certain control and persuading them to believe in what they want. As explained in the intro, the media has a variety of ways that they can influence. Television and its commercials, as well as advertising, are one of the biggest ways that they persuade. We are constantly shown these advertisements that try and persuade us on what to wear, eat and drink, car to drive, what to smell like, and even what house hold items we should have in our homes. By the age of 21 the average person would have watched one million television commercials. Think of all the brand name clothes we wear, the places that we go and eat at, as well as our constant infatuation with the way we look. In these ways and others, our lives reflect the advertisements and commercial that we see everyday. Of course, there will never be a ban on the medias advertisements. Many times, these ads are helpful to us and give us a better knowledge of a product. But although, they can be helpful, these media ads are slowly controlling our lives and the lives of those around us. Many people feel that they
