Brave new world depicts a society in which every single person is synthesized through hi-technology process without a biological mother. Unequal conditions are set ahead of time for different stages, however everyone is instilled with the idea that his or hers life is the best of all. In the sacrifice of free will, emotions, as well as a basic understanding of the world around them, people in this distorted utopia lead a superficial happy and full-filling life. While Brave New World sufficiently reveals the possibly horrifying outcome of uncontrolled technology and science developments, it also warns us about the current education system. Sleeping education is the method that is widely used in the society in Brave New World.
We stick with our families and love them and support them. The huge difference between the family society in Brave New World and our world.... would be that they drop all families and we have our families. Everyone depends on himself or herself and there is hardly any love for the people of Brave New World. Mothers and fathers are not important. Children are raised on their own with the help of adult's brain washing them to believe
None of the citizens in The Giver's community have ever experienced color, which surpresses their creativity at the root. Without something as simple as color affecting people's decisions, diversity, and creativity, life is dull before it even has the chance to become exciting. With Jonas and The Giver being the exceptions in the colorblind community, they are the only ones who realize what the entire society is missing. Jonas expresses his grief on the topic in the following quote: "Well ... "Jonas had to stop and think it through. "If everything's the same, then there aren't any choices!
What it means to be a Hero One automatically thinks of superman when the word hero is mentioned, but it doesn’t take a life to be saved for someone to be recognized as a hero. Some of the greatest heroes are those who don’t expect the fame and glory for a good deed done. It takes a lot to be courageous, especially to be courageous in all situations; even the bad. Helen Keller lived a very tough life with no ability to see or hear but still she found a way to get passed her disabilities and rose above the boundaries that were put in front of her. She is a hero to all those who see no light at the end of the tunnel, to those who think they can’t persevere, but really, little do they know they can.
Domination of any kind was a barrio that she had broken down and that was not a struggle anymore. Reading “The Strength of MY Rebellion” has left behind an image of self-determination and braking free to become who you want instead of a standard set by cultural, society and even yourself. Many women and men are dominated by tradition; they have no voices no individual existence, breaking free is not an option since they don’t even understand how to be independent or what it feels like to be free. I remember, my mom telling me stories about my own culture, and how the man of the house was in total control of everyone in his quarters. Daily, men were sent to the farm and the
The highest moral right is liberty and from it any other goods will follow. These secondary rights could include freedom to get married, or be a musician, but these are to be pursued privately. Negative liberty is “freedom from”, only when an individual is free to make his own decisions and actions without coercion is a person truly free (Machan 5). This “freedom from” emphasizes right before good. According to Hospers The essential ingredient in all freedom from coercion by other is one’s basic and inalienable right; it is fundamental to human survival and the development of the self (Machan 8).
Stability is the most mentioned motto throughout the novel. Stability is the ultimate goal of society because only through stability can happiness be maintained and all unpleasant feelings and emotions be eradicated. The desire for stability requires the production of large numbers of genetically identical “individuals,” because, people who are exactly the same are less likely to come into conflict. Stability means minimizing conflict, risk, and change. Brave New World also states that it creates stability by, deep thought, new ideas, and strong passions.
John or also known as The Savage really like how all the factors of positives and negatives in life which life is worth living for. This makes me think that we shouldn’t try to find the perfect life with no problems at all because this books shows us that that is not the way to take to be able to change our life for the better and be able to enjoy our lives. Instead, as how I interpreted this amazing book, we should be searching for the perfectly imperfect lives with the perfect problems that make life enjoyable or in better terms life more lifelike. I honestly feel that there is no perfect life and if it was it shouldn’t considered being alive at all. The book also shows some abnormal actions that would be considered different in our time but it is normal in that world.
It is based on different virtues that a person should have, so that they can then reach Euadamonia. Euadamonia should be the end goal to everyone's life and it is the ultimate happiness. Virtue Ethics is ‘agent centred’ and it focuses on the qualities of the person making the moral choices rather than the actual moral choice that they are making, which can bring weaknesses to the theory as one can justify mostly anything by using virtue ethics. According to the theory, morality is about becoming the right sort of person, it is not asking “what should I do?”, but it is asking “what sort of person should I be?”, and is not trying to find rights and wrongs, just allow you to become a good person. Virtue ethics is agent-centred ethics rather than act-centred.
On the other hand, realism means "the inclination towards literal truth and pragmatism" (ibid). It also means to accept life the way it is, and favour the practical method of dealing with it. This too seems to be a good trait on the outside, but it has some flaws. To only aim for average cuts short the potential of humanity. Just because humanity isn't perfect does not mean it cannot reach excellent every now and then.
