The social creation of dependency is about how the elderly depend on the government. This is for things such as pensions and age restricted retirement policies. The effects of these policies are that they single out older people and isolate them in some ways. Because of this elderly people are left feeling worthless and have a low self-esteem as they stand out to be helpless and vulnerable. Because the elderly have a stereotypical image that they are useless they become a focus point as they have negative attitudes towards things and become more dependent on friends, family and social care services.
The questions still remains: why can’t the American people provide the best and most effective medical care for all of our elderly citizens? And, how can we accomplish this goal and fund it in a fiscally responsible way? Research still needs to continue in order to resolve these questions. Conservatives criticized Medicare because it is a nuisance to the party’s ideology, which views the private marketplace, not government, as the solution to society’s most pressing social problems. By applying the strengths perspective, which uses human strength and resiliency as a guide for helping individuals overcome personal obstacles and challenges, conservatives would rationalize that older adults should plan for their retirement many years earlier, preparing a way to provide their own medical care.

In the case of Kate she is withdrawn from using health care services because of the low self-esteem. She feels like she will be judged or looked down on because of her condition. By Kate not getting the care/ attention she is putting herself in danger. There are many other repercussions of low self-esteem such as self-hate. Self-hate is a very concerning matter and can lead people similar to Kate to become
Depression could potentially reduce the quality of life and possibly increase medical morbidity and mortality in older adults. Older adults tend not to recognize the symptoms of depression, and if they do, they will not seek any type of treatment. This may be because of embarrassment, lack of care, they are not sure where to go, and the medication they are taking may interfere with medication they have to take for depression. Vision Impairment and Depression One aspect of life that many be reduced is their vision. Stereotypically, we see older adults as being “blind as a bat”!
These relationships can take on a therapeutic role for us as well. They can help reduce stress, help recover from illness faster, reduce hypertension, and lower mortality rates. As we age, we tend to reduce the circle of friends that can remain close into old age. As we get older and family and friends die, these remaining friendships take on a larger role. I believe this article would be a good topic for a research paper if it was needed.
Age In Place: Advantages and Challenges Introduction As people age, they will experience several changes: reduced vision, decreased mobility, reduced mental processing capabilities, increased risk of falls due to balance, and increased risk of illness (Hager, n.d.). People’s quality of lives and independence will be impacted by these changes. Therefore, research has focused on how to age without losing independence and quality of lives has been asked by a lot of people. Aging in place is defined as “the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.). According to the definition, aging in place does not only describe that a person can live in a residence of his/her choice, but also the person are able to have services or support they might need as their needs change over time as well as to maintain their quality of life.
"Growing and Aging Community" Please respond to the following: * To accommodate a rapidly growing and aging community, it is necessary to expand capacity for long-term care by constructing a new hospital wing. Rate the primary health concerns for this patient population. Elderly care wings should consist of a Geriatrics unit, a dietician, Orthopedic specialist, and extra CNA’s. Many elderly patients who need long term care often have some of the same issues. Alzheimer's or a related dementia illness can cause the patient to be forgetful and not recognize family members or even worse they won’t remember when they last ate or bathed.
By the passing of centuries people have become more concerned about society and the way we conduct life. This is why life has improved throughout the decades, by creating electricity, computers and internet and so on. Secondly, studies suggests that people who worry too much have higher levels of activity in regions of the brain that aid in communication between parts of the brain. These regions are thought to have contributed to the evolutionary success of humans, the researchers say. According to scientists even though excessive worry has been generally considered a negative trait and high intelligence a positive one, worry may cause our species to avoid dangerous situations, regardless of how remote a possibility they can be.
In order to solve the anti aging mystery, it's important to first understand the aging process. As people live fuller and longer lives, they are becoming increasingly aware of this natural phenomenon. The external signs of aging are all obvious, from the simplest fine wrinkle lines to “bags” under the eyes to the crippling severe contractures that disable and prevent independent ambulation (Allen, 2010). Awareness of aging comes from all around us, in the media, medical breakthroughs and advances in skin care and plastic surgery as well. Aging is the byproduct of the bodies’ decreasing ability to quickly and efficiently repair and maintain itself.
