There are many different kinds of sports in the world, be it extreme sports, leisure sports or athletic sports. Young people who participate in sports have their various reasons for doing so. For example, they want to be active, lead a healthy lifestyle or to gain valuable lessons from it. Today, I am going to be discussing about how leadership qualities can be developed in young people when they do sports. There are many leadership qualities that can be developed through sports. Firstly, young people are able to gain the qualities patience and perseverance. For example, if a total amateur and newbie are to take up a new sport without any prior knowledge, they might not be good at it. A person who has never done archery before might find it difficult to hold up the bow and then to pull the string to aim and shoot the arrow. Like the saying goes, " Nobody is perfect", thus, not everyone is good at everything and anything they try for the first time. In order to be familiar with the sport, young people will have to keep practicing in order to get the hang of the sport. In order to do this, they must never give up and continue to practice with the same amount of patience. Similarly, when a leader is faced with challenges or when their followers do not understand anything, young people will have to be able to not give up in times of adversity and also patiently clear the doubts of their followers. Thus, through sports, young people go head-to-head with their challenges and learn to never give up despite all the hard times. With this, they will be able to guide other along with them. Secondly, young people can also develop the quality of confidence. For example, when young people do extreme sports like rock-climbing, they must always have the resolution that they are going to make it to the top and that they will not harp about negative things like falling.
