After reading the article I would agree that the technology of smart pumps would help in reducing medication dosing error. Infants in the NICU are extremely vulnerable and any mistake can be life threatening. In my opinion, the information in this article would be useful for a Nurse who works with new born infants, even more in the NICU. Works
It is a very thorough document that contains a lot of different information including, risks, percentages, how to use it, how to get it, and if it protects from STI’s. In my argument, it will be useful to have a clear understanding of the different types of birth control, and what they are capable of. "Contraceptives and HIV." FHI 360. N.p., n.d.
The topic I chose to do my paper on is cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease of the secretory glands, this includes the glands that make mucus and sweat. The disease is passed through the genes from parents to children meaning it is inherited. The people that get cystic fibrosis inherit two faulty cystic fibrosis genes, one from each parent. The parents that pass these genes likely don’t have the disease themselves.
This in turn only supports CT colonography as a better screening choice for colorectal cancer. The cons listed are bowel preparation for the patient prior to a colonoscopy is considered too harsh and can lead to other health problems, i.e. dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, cardiac irregularity. The evaluation of 49 studies showed positive patient outcomes with the use of CT colonography; however did not go further to mention if any future diagnostic testing was necessary. This is very important information for nurses to pass on to their patients informing them they should always ask more questions.
Children should not be required to receive the DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus) vaccine. Some studies have shown that children who receive the DPT vaccine exhibit shallow breathing which has been associated with sleep apnea and may be a causal factor in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Studies of infants whose deaths were recorded as SIDS show a temporal relationship with DPT vaccination (these infants tended to die at similar time intervals in relation to when they were vaccinated). [17] 11. Children should not receive the hepatitis B vaccine.
| “There are states that require a parental consent for children under the age of 18 years.” There should be more substance to this point. The sentence stands alone and leaves the reader wondering. | What is your favorite part of this piece of writing? | “When a woman decides that abortion is the way to go it not an easy decision to come to there may be factors that they need to look at. When a women is pregnant and they are excited at the fact that they are pregnant all of that joy can be shattered after an ultrasound is performed and the women is informed that her child is going to have no functional daily life and is going to be hook up to a ventilator for the rest of his/her life.” This is a very strong personal opinion that I completely agree with.
I believe it is right that infanticide is illegal because as soon as the baby is born it is a living, breathing human being. If a mother can’t take care of her baby then she should give it up for adoption instead of ending its life before it even has a chance. Nine months should be plenty of time for the decision to be made on whether or not to end the pregnancy. For the fact that disabilities can be detected so much sooner nowadays there shouldn’t be any need to end a pregnancy late-term. Personally, I believe early-term abortions with reason are acceptable, but infanticide should not ever be a
Sean Stanton Mr. Hopkins Communication Skills 16 December 2008 “Pro-choice” A woman who is pregnant with a child should have the right to decide whether or not she can let the embryo or fetus she is carrying continue to be present inside her body. Because a woman is entitled to certain reproductive rights, especially the choice of whether or not to carry a pregnancy to birth, outlawing abortion would be wrong. Outlawing abortion is also wrong because the pro-life movement can negatively affect the life of a woman to help the condition of an embryo or fetus. To add to that, an embryo or fetus is not a person it simply has the potential of becoming one. Finally, the main argument I am trying to present is that I do not think we should
The Pro-life advocates who are against late-term abortion argued that life begins at conception. At six weeks the fetus heart begins to beat and all the major organs have developed. In that case, any action deliberately taking to abort the fetus is ethically wrong and is considered as murder. An unwanted child is a pitiful thing, the thought of terminating something that if allowed to run its natural course, would result in the birth of a human being that will bring joy to most families. The Pro-abortionist focused only on a women’s right to choose and all the social problems inherent in an unwanted child, forgetting that the unborn child is a precious thing that has the right to life and deserves the full protection under the moral and ethics law.
This means, nothing is living with in the first trimester and that abortion should be considered murder. Association of Pro-Life Physicians declares, “According to this elementary definition of life, life begins at fertilization when a sperm unites with an ooyte [immature egg cell](“Association of Pro-Life Physicians” 3).” Although science believes the brain is the sign of living being, they believe life begins at conception more accurately, based on the development of the egg (fetus, zygote, etc.) in the
