I really enjoyed getting to know 2 of my team members whom I worked very closely with on this project and will keep in touch with after this class is long over. As for what could have gone better, I feel we had some serious disruptions that caused our group to form in a reactive manner… versus naturally; I would have liked to experience a more solid group experience. 2. If working in a group: What did you learn from working in a project group? Aside from the class content I learned that I don’t wait for things to happen I went into this telling my group that under no circumstance could I lead this project but I found myself incapable of waiting for things to evolve on their own, I have more of a leader personality than I thought.
Jamison Mullen Ms.Cramer Final reflective essay 5/24/12 It’s been a long hard year for all the students that took English 10. It’s good that people take English because it affects the way we talk, live, and function in day to day life. I can say personally English helped my writing tremendously. I could hardly write essays due to my bad grammar and the inability to punctuate my words and sentences I’ve come a long way. It was worth every question and worksheet to where I am now.
This time, it was asking about a class we were both taking in school. After he smoothly got me to text him we began talking daily. I started seeing a more mature, changed side to Corwin and I found out that my initial impression of him was completely wrong. He turned out to be a truly amazing person that I never gave him enough credit to think he could be. The more I got to know the real Corwin Weik, the more I realized that he built up walls and portrayed a certain person because that’s what he was used to, just like me.
Prejudice was a good topic to talk about and to be recognized, and Battle Royal fit the toll perfectly. I had the idea of prejudice, but I was able to elaborate on it more with the help of my classmates and professor. I would also like to acknowledge and thank my friend Christopher Martin for reading over my paper and giving helpful insights. I always find that a peer knows how to understand what one is trying to say or help to make sense of it. He offered a lot of help and was willing to make notes on my paper to attempt at helping me make my paper the best it could possibly be.
Once all my anxiety had finally subsided, I was excited to know my results and understand the way I worked. After two months of waiting I was called to get my final evaluation. The evaluator handed me twenty-five pieces of paper and we went through them word by word and over every test result; I was bored and chomping at the bit to the findings. Finally whe we get to the last page of the packed and I read the conclusion that they came up with at the bottom of the page: “Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and a Reading
By having deadlines set like this, it made everyone accountable and able to have their information or opinion written up in the wiki so we were able to move onto the next stage in a timely manner. In a group task such as this, a major factor would also be the members wanting to succeed. As a group we were all focused on the same outcome, working together and putting our information into the presentation as best as we could. As we were all focused on the same thing, very early on we communicated clearly with our group members. I was heading away on a family holiday for a week and I told the other group members what day I was going away and when I was coming back.
I felt that I enjoyed writing this paper more than any other. It was research and I was able to observe. With this revised paper I used notes and comments left in tried to adjust according to the notes and make use of additional research to provide more evidence, and support to the structure of my paper. For being the first English class to take in years, I can say that I did not put much effort nor did I truly care to, English or writing has never been my strong suit or anything I enjoyed. I can say that my writing improved slightly I have a better understanding of rhetoric and the structure
For our group work, we talked about the totalitarian regimes. This helped me a lot because I was able to share my ideas with my peers and receive more clarity on the rulers. Now I can confidently discuss these topics, but I still feel confused on the differences between totalitarianism and absolutism. Overall, going over the reading as a group and then discussing it as a class really gives me a better understanding of what I am reading. Regarding my research project, I haven't really had time to go over all my sources and fill in my outline.
_When I walked into SNAPS class I had mixed thoughts on how the semester would go, but as the school year is wrapping up, I am pleased with the new knowledge I have on autism. Throughout the year I had great pleasure working with Anders. I also enjoyed finding new ways to motivate him into working and make him smile. Not only did the book help explain problems with Anders and the solutions, but it also expanded my knowledge on autism. Although I am exited for summer, I am going to miss SNAPS class and the learning that came from it.
I had to identify the style or combination of styles needed to be an effective listener. This process was done for an hour, four nights a week and the outcome was exactly as I expected. Erica wasn’t receptive for the first three days or so, but soon after she became very talkative with the effect of jovialness. In fact, one subject turned into three or four new ones. Also, during these experiments I found myself using a lot of critical thinking, for example, evaluating the quality of the message, is it general conversation or content of substance.
