Briana English 101-006 Essay 4 15, November, 2011 Can a Mother be Considered a Best Friend? A mother can be considered a best friend to her child for many reasons. When one is in need of help, the first person he/she will call is his/her mother. A mother will be there through whatever trials and tribulations her child encounters. Mother’s can be considered ones’ best friend because she is considered her children’s role model, she is always there for her child, and she is there to give positive advice.
My grandmother has acquired the most sincere respect from me, and is the true backbone of our family. My grandmother is truly a self-made, independent woman, and I will return to her the happiness she has given to me. I often wonder what the past was like for my grandmother, trying to fathom how the lucky hands of life are dealt so unfairly. By looking at her now, I can only imagine the hardships she has endured, and the many obstacles she has hurdled as the years transpire. To illustrate, I often study her hands, the painful imperfections, which took years of working multiple jobs, making sure life for her children was as carefree as possible.
A mother’s heart is best when seen throughout the years of life. I can say that my mother’s heart is the most beautiful thing. It’s filled with so much color, unconditional love, and words of wisdom. As a child, I may not have understood her love, but I always knew it was there. My mother’s heart never gives up and she lives for helping others.
Essay (descriptive) Many things and many people in our life have mattered to us and I believe that many of these same things and people have also affected us in some profound, meaningful and permanent way. Regardless of this, there is one person in my life who has done more for me than anyone else. When people asked me “who is my best friend?” no doubt, my answer for that question is my mother. She is so considerate and generous that I admire her and realize her as my best friend. My mother is my best friend that I ever had in my life.
She is what you could call “the rock” of our family she keeps us all up, in our times of hardships. My grandmother made us all laugh when we were having a horrible day. I decided then, rather than to ignore her to actually appreciated her persistence. I believe that this persistence and ceaselessness is what helped her battle the disease. I cannot imagine taking these serious subjects and smiling and joking about them in the manner that she was able to, but she somehow always did. Taking on the role as the mother of me and my 2 sisters, plus her own 2 daughters; she never showed that things were too much for her to handle on her own. She lived her life to the fullest and, I think in some small way her cancer made her cherish what she had even more.
My mother was always a single mother, so just like space, as I was growing up, money was tight. But my mother never let that hold back my siblings and me from getting our education and other goals she set for us. She knew we could do things that we believed we couldn’t possibly do, so she always encouraged us to be our best, no matter whatever or whoever tried to bring us down. The people that are in my life today have had a huge impact on the person who I’ve grown to be. My family, but especially my mother has molded me with their standards and expectations of me, and for them I am thankful.
A Person Who Changed Your Life There have been many people in my life that I have looked up to over the years. But there is one person throughout my life that stands out threw them all and that person is my grandmother.
