The Most Important Advice When I was younger, summer meant having fun with family and friends and experiencing several of the most valuable memories. I’ve learned that some of the most important things in life come from the most unexpected points in life, most of them being in the summer. I use so many morals, lessons, and values that my family has taught me. My mom was the main image who guided me through life. She was working, going to school, raising me, and relying on family to help take care of me especially in the summer; so she could do the same. Having my daddy, three grandmothers and grandfathers, and several aunts and uncles, I was always occupied and busy. Not only did I have fun being with my family every summer but it seemed that I also learned a valuable lesson everywhere I went. Growing up, I enjoyed being with family. There was never a dull moment. Each person I stayed with has made an imprint in my life. For example, I got to experience my first true encounter of “dealing with the public” with my grandmother at age ten. I realized not everyone will smile at me no matter how cute I tried to be. I also realized that there were some very rude people in this world who will treat you like you are worthless. I was a waitress at my grandparents local bait shop and restaurant at the lake for one day. I received several bad looks, rude remarks, and most importantly, no tips. At age twelve I got to help my other grandmother run her bookstore on the downtown square. Here, I also learned from my own experience that the “customer is always right” remark is not always right. It was absolutely frustrating. So I practiced working with and helping people. Both of my grandmothers sat down with me and explained how I needed to always be respectful and professional when things like this happened.
