Importance of Transportation to Global Economy

518 Words3 Pages
I believe the aeronautic transportation industry is one of the most important parts of the global economy and also one headed for a lot of changes in the future. It is my desire to be a part of this future that propelled me into studying aerospace engineering. After I complete my Aerospace Degree I hope to be involved in a corporations global aerospace engineering initiatives as well as help research and develop green energy sources for aeronautic forms of transportation. One of my career goals is to work on projects that involve an international consumer. These projects would give me the opportunity to think in a different mindset to help solve challenges that affect companies in foreign countries but are not as prevalent in the United States. In order to achieve this goal I plan to begin taking Chinese during my next semester and continue to take increasingly more advanced classes to help me become fluent in the language. I also plan to study abroad in France next summer as a participant in the Group des Ecoles Aeronautiques et Spatiales (GEA) program which students take classes from top French Aerospace professors and get a first hand experience in the French Aerospace Industry. Prior to my first year in college I participated in the (Michigan Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (M- STEM) program that consists of fifty-six diverse students that work in teams to solve complex engineering problems. This experience developed my communication and teamwork skills that will aid me in interacting with foreign companies in future global projects. My second career goal is to be involved in the research and development of clean energy alternatives to fuel aeronautic vehicles as well as develop modifications to current designs to decrease energy consumption. Advancements in this research would lead to lower costs for consumers and a healthier environment.
