Hick argues that if God had created humanity in his presence then the gap between God and humanity would be so small that it would limit our freedom. Hick calls this knowledge gap between God and humanity ‘The Epistemic Distance’. Hick further explains that if we were created too close to God in terms of knowledge, we would be overwhelmed by him and would worship him for the wrong reasons. Humans are not born
Humanity’s Separation from Nature The gray unhappy air surrounds civilization as the pollution of human creations and discoveries tears us further and further from our natural beginnings. Nature no longer encompasses us with sunshine and beauty, left alone we become monsters in our outlook and attempt to take control of power we were never meant to have. With the use of drugs and the constant striving for upmost power to create living from dead we have destroyed our natural roots. Natural processes slowly disappear from the world around us, in Brave New World the Director says; "Bokanovsky's Process is one of the major instruments of social stability!" (1) This is a process where people are artificially made and conditioned into certain parts of society.
If the teleological argument is correct in saying that God created humans like a machine, then you would expect humans to be perfect creations, but we are not. Humans are flawed in many ways including the fact that we have extra organs, and that our skeletons are not created properly for the way we walk. Humans are not machines in any way, and the fact that we are not perfect machines is explained by the theory of evolution. Therefore the theory of evolution is proof against the teleological argument and that God is the creator of the human race and the earth. I feel that this argument fails to prove the existence of God.
His creation was a result of the cries to the Gods for bad leadership and power of King Gilgamesh. Enkidu was created to match the Kings beauty, strength, and other assets. One more sign of divinity from the epic of Gilgamesh is Gilgamesh his self in the epic we read that Gilgamesh does some superhuman things that a regular person couldn’t do and if they could have the gods would not created Enkidu. He originally possessed the most divine blood because he was two-thirds god, his body would not tire as quickly nor would it succumb to
The Monster had done nothing to deserve what Victor has put him through, so the fact that the Creation turns on Victor was perfectly normal. Victor has no respect for his creation, abandoned him, and causes him to turn on his creator therefore, making him the real monster. The monster does not deserve the behavior he gets from Victor. He treats his creation like property when the Monster deserves to be treated normally. If parents would respect their children more then cases like Victors creation would be much
An important event in the “Maya Creation Myth” would be when the humans made of flesh help give warmth to the man made of gold. As well as when the gods decide that they rich couldn’t go to heaven without the poor. The important characters would be the gods because they represent nature; everything is reproduced to perfection except for some. The significance of this story is that we all need to treat others equally because that is what the “gods” intended for us to do. (“Maya Creation Myth”) D. An important event in “The Coyote and The Hen” is when the coyote lies to the hen saying that a treaty has been signed so they could be friends.
There is a relatively strong connection to God in this book and many people during this time period believed in God. I bring this up because it was believed that God is the supreme creator of all things including the human race. It would therefore be horrendously inconceivable to challenge God and attempt to do something that would show that a mortal can have power equal to that of God. Next, regardless of how an individual comes into being it the duty of the creator to be there to nurture and care for the creature they have brought into the world. The world is a cruel place, even to those who are normal, but to someone who is different, as we see in the book, there
A God is expected to be responsible and someone who is well respected. It is hard to respect a God that acts like they are part of the human race. Comparing the two stories it is hard for one not to see that the book of Genesis is more realistic and believable then the “Epic of Gilgamesh.” Even though it is believed that the book of Genesis took its flood story from Gilgamesh’s story, seeing the realistic views of each stories may make one think it is the other way
I talked about how the world creation and elements came thru the eyes of the first generation of Gods. Then the paper goes on to talk about the creators which are male and female who gives life to the human creation. Lastly, I explain the Genesis creation of how God created heaven, hell, sun, and the moon, but the belief of faith would be the answer to the unanswered
You would not assume that it was made due to random changes in nature; you would think that the watch had a designer. Because it has a purpose (to tell the time) it must have a designer. As the universe also has signs of complexity and intelligence, it too must have a designer? The watch is an unintelligent being in the case, with the designer being the intelligence. If we use analogy to compare the watch to the universe then there must be some intelligent being which directs all unintelligent beings towards their end.
