That one receptionist can change the whole mood of the patient, which continuing on into the visit with the physician. This can make it hard for the physician to treat the patient because the patient may feel closed off now or less receptive to advice from the physician. So I would find interdependence very important knowledge to have in any health care field. Sensitivity is something that is necessary to have when dealing with others. In the health care field one needs to be aware of others feelings
M1: Assessment of Argyle’s and Tuckman’s Communication Theories & the Role of Effective Communication & Interpersonal Interaction in Health & Social Care Effective communication and interpersonal interaction are vital in a health and social care setting. This can ensure that a service user’s needs are met by the healthcare professionals involved. An example of this would be a paramedic bringing a patient into hospital and communicating correctly with the doctors and nurses about the patient’s condition, such as if they have a particular type of injury or if they are allergic to any medication. If important information like this is insufficiently explained to other healthcare professionals, then treatment for the patient would be inadequate and have a negative effect on the patient’s treatment and recovery. To help understand communication and interpersonal interaction, two theories will be discussed, these are: Argyle’s Communication Cycle and Tuckman’s Group Theory.
Effective communication and interpersonal interaction between individuals is important in all situations in society, such as in health and social care settings such as hospitals, nurseries and care homes. Both theories of communication can be taken across into health and social care settings to help communication and interpersonal interaction between health and social care professionals and service users be as effective and as possible. The first theory I will be talking about is the communication cycle which i discussed in P2. The communication cycle is a type of code that requires you figuring out what the other person is trying to say and what their behaviour means. This theory would allow service users and health care professionals to communicate more easily and effectively.
There are some patients or employees with strong accents that can make it difficult for one to understand and may cause a misunderstanding between both parties. Not only do healthcare professionals use communication to provide service but also for financial planning of service, it is used to build a solid relationship between the patient, patients’ family, and the healthcare professionals. Working in such a diverse health facility all employees, volunteers, patients and family need to take time and educate themselves on other cultures because what you might do to others as a joke or just cause might offend or hurt others. All employees should respect the patients’ culture and try to work and communicate as thoroughly as possible to avoid offending their culture, moral, religion, and beliefs. Many individuals think that is immoral to not administer any type of pharmaceutical medication to a dying patient, but out of respect we healthcare professional respect their culture and provide as comfortable as possible according to their
Communication incorporates the basic elements of communication; meaning there are so many cultural differences, personalities, languages, beliefs, values, morals, and behavior. This is why establishing positive communication along with understanding cultural differences will allow professionals to understand the patient while focusing on his or her need of care. Communication in the health care industry starts the minute a physician meets with the patient on the very first visit or with the receptionist the minute a patient walks in the health facility. When communication is established it should be maintained at all times and on all levels whether it is verbal or non-verbal. Effective Communication takes place through direct communication, voice messages, e-mailing, filling prescriptions, phone calls, memos, letters, and making appointments.
If the consent is not given by a patient the practice, physician, or the healthcare worker can be held liable in a lawsuit. It is also important to show empathy and compassion to a patient to make them feel that they are welcomed. A healthcare worker should also know when to draw the line with a patient to avoid any kind of harassment issues or to make the patient feel uncomfortable. In any healthcare facility a patient’s need for care should be the main priority, and the healthcare worker should make sure that the priority is met. It has also been shown in the Medical Law and Ethics course that it is a must that all healthcare workers know and understand the legal
Evaluating Compliance Strategies There are specific steps that must be taken in the medical and billing process. The guidelines established in the compliance process are put in place by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and healthcare staff members to the protect the patients, the staff and the physicians. The compliance process guarantees that inaccuracies and errors are avoided in the medical office. This paper will cover the linking procedures and diagnoses, the implications of incorrect medical coding and how medical coding, physician and payer fees are related to the compliance process. The entire medical billing process initiates when the patient is seen at a medical facility by a physician.
| If the patient has to take more than one type of medication at the same time; they will get confused if the Doctor hasn’t clearly explained how they should take it. | This can be related to Argyle’s Stages of Communication because the patient needs to trust the doctor to know what he or she wants them to do. | Improves level of care for everyone | More than one nurse taking care of a patient at a hospital or in an elderly people’s home. | If they don’t communicate with each other than they may end up repeating things or the patient won’t trust the nurses. | This can be related to Tuckman’s theory of Group Interaction because the Nurses have to work together so that they can provide the best care for that patient
This report will also explain the importance of stakeholders an how quality is identified. The review of the purpose of physician and patient pertaining to Quality Improvement will be discussed in this report. Why Quality Management is necessary in the healthcare
Discuss the importance of research in health and social care To support care information gathered from research can be used by health care proffesionals so they can give the best possible care and treatment. It is important to ensure that the right people have access to the right information at the right time so they can provide you with the right care. To improve health and social care services for everyone Information is used for purposes beyond your direct care: Commissioning The people who plan health and care services (commissioners) need good information about the types of illnesses people have and the treatments they receive, as well as the result of that care or treatment. They can then check to make sure that people are getting the services that are right for them. Public health Some information is used for public health.
