Social networking sites provide us the opportunity to explore the whole world, make friends, and share moments with the rest of the world through the Internet. These sites have a deep impact on our socio-psychological behaviour. Today, we are flooded with numerous social networking sites on the Internet like Twitter and Facebook. These social networking sites create a virtual world with the opportunities for making friends, chatting, sharing moments and much more. We see a variety of people on these sites. We have freedom to categorize them, freedom to pick and choose them as our friends, as we do in our real life. But there is a big difference; we do not actually meet them. Nevertheless, in today’s fast paced world, these virtual friends provide us with a platform where we can, without hesitation, share our feelings, which otherwise we would not have discussed face to face. The impact of social-networking sites has played a major role in how we utilize them to give us an advantage into our social capital, privacy, health, and education. A social networking site can be a good way to make positive connections with people with similar interests and goals. They can be a way to connect with or "meet" people that a student may not have had the opportunity to before, including other students, staff, and even alumni. Thanks to social networking sites, meeting someone in person has become a thing of the past. "Poking" has become the new handshake. Making friends and renewing old ones is easy. Social networking sites offers campus surveys, "party" or event listings and other information that communicates the "pulse" of a community culture. Therefore, they can be a great way to understand and stay connected to your community as a whole.
