Impact of Computer Technology on Education RESEARCH PAPER Over the years, technology has become so advanced and such a big part of our lives. It is very rare not to see a computer when you walk into a business or school. Many jobs require that you use a computer. Students need to be kept up-to-date with the changing times because when you get out of school, technology will be even more advanced than it is today. While our schools’ curriculums are being upgraded, the students should also be updated on the new technologies available. In the last decade, the demand for computers in schools has increased drastically. They play a variety of roles in the classroom. Computer implementation is an important aspect of the curriculum. More and more today businesses as well as schools are becoming technologically advanced. Without some sort of background on computers it would be difficult to find a job in today’s growing work force. Now in the 21st century, several new, more powerful technologies are just beginning to make their way into classrooms across the nation. For example, new personal computers support "multimedia" educational software that employs both sound and video to teach students facts and concepts. Advances in telecommunications technologies have spurred access to the Internet, allowing students and teachers to communicate with people from around the world via electronic mail, or "e-mail" as it is commonly known. New ways of obtaining and presenting information have given students powerful new ways of analyzing and understanding the world around them.
