During the 2013-14 academic year the College provided educational opportunity for over 35,000 enrolments from a wide catchment area across four Local Government Districts of Ards, Down, Lisburn and North Down. The College has four main campuses located at Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn, and Newtownards, and a further four campuses in Holywood, Ballyboley (campus was closed in June 2014), Ballynahinch and Newcastle. SERC’s mission is to shape the community by promoting an inspirational, innovative and inclusive learning environment which will empower and enable individuals and businesses to fulfil their ambitions as well as contribute to the future prosperity of Northern Ireland. SERC focuses on providing creative and innovative solutions for customers rather than academic theories. The college invests in pioneering developments to make offerings customer led and takes a similar approach to internal processes and systems to avoid bureaucracy, focusing always on the end users’ needs.SERC currently has over 1,100 employees working with 37,000+ students. In the academic year 2012/13, 20,836 qualifications were obtained by 10,133 students. 96% of FE students on completion of their course progress to high levels of education or employment.
